I have been reading all of the topix the past few months in regards to all the 'great' athletes in the area. Nobody ever mentions Carson Murphy. No doubt, best athlete in the area. Everybody else is looking up.

Mr. Murphy,

Carson's a D-3 athlete headed to Cortland State.

Nice Kid, good athlete, definitely in the top 25 athletes in Section III.

Good luck in college Carson, keep up the hard work and succeed.

I think the kid is a D1 athlete and schools are missing on him; maybe not for b-ball, but definitely for football. His measurables are better than SUs top recruit for receiver this year.

Corey Cooper-5'11" 191lbs; 40 yard-4.58; vertical- 28"
Murphy-6'4" 215lbs; 40 yard-4.6; vertical 36"

If you were a college coach, who would you want?

This young man is going to compete and succeed at the D-3 level this fall at Cortland.

Will likely redshirt his first season if he stays at QB. In two years he will be solid in the college game.

Carson's dad timing him in the driveway in the 40 did not go into the decision making process for colleges.

Basketball not in the mix anything higher than D3 either. Height is average so he would be a guard and doesn't shoot the ball that well unless he's being guarded by the 5'-7" kids that have been grabbing at his ankles for years. Not a knock on him at all. Just facts.

Probably should have taken the notre dame opportunity and received some coaching and recruiting help from coach durr. That would have been a nice boost in his stock price for college. Duur is the local authority.

Just sayin'.

ND? Most the people in the area have consider Carson the best player in the valley for the last two years. How was ND going to raise his profile more? Glad he didn't fall for that BS and decided to stay with his lifetime friends and compete for a section title. How did ND do? You must not know how fast the kid is to make that "father in the driveway" statement. Never said the kid was a D1 B-ball player, but do think he is a D1 football player. Did you see a better athlete Sunday between all five games on Time Warner? No you did not! Oh, by the way, I don't think Cortland would redshirt their top recruit.

He's got a free ride to Hartwick as well but will most likely go to Cortland. He will definitely not Red Shirt. The kid is a stud and had MHS had only one shooting guard that could make a 3-pointer and anyone that could rebound other than Carson, then Beaver River would have been left in the dust.

Carson is going to be a great addition to any program he chooses and believe me, there is absolutely nothing wrong with D3. If I were Carson I'd much rather go to D3 for free and play then D1 with a dream.

Cortlands top recruit was jordan chrobak from notre dame...he is going to d1 albany...murphy is playing at mohawk....d1 qb....wake up...did u see mohawk scrimmage nd...it was laughable...and how would nd have raised his stock? Ask pat moore Colgate , mike gaglianese purdue, zane smith bryant, Zach kesterson and emily durr....just come to a nd game and see whos in the stands.....

You mean Jordan Chrobak from Clinton? Never said D1 QB, I think I mention receiver. Also, if you know anything about football you would know it takes more than one guy to win in football. Oh, you're a ND fan so you do know that!

Yes jordan chrobak from clinton...played football for nd and was cortland #1...he picked albany. Murphy is very good...too bad he never challenged himself at a higher level...but have been a different outcome....just look at the pittman kid that transfered to nd ... u say murphy is the best player around...but pittman getting a full basketball ride. And I think Murphy is just as good

Murphy is better all around athlete than Pittman hands down. Look at the coaching Pittman received from Coach Durr as opposed to what this kid got in Mohawk. Absolutely not a knock on coach at Mohawk, just stating facts. It is what it is.

Please don't be fool enough to say Murphy is Cortland's " #1 Recruit". He's definitely one of their top 10, but linemen always come first over there and skill players second. If he stays at QB, he will redshirt. Receiver? No.

He made an excellent choice in going D-3, but in all reality it was his only choice. D-1 scholarship offers were lean and very few.

Hartwick would be a waste as far as athletics go.

Too bad for ND also, they haven't had a decent basketball player since the Moore kid graduated. Pittman might be the only exception to that statement though. Good for him going on to play in college, but again, without leaving the VVS train wreck that wouldn't have happened.

You think ND had something to do with Chrobak going to Albany? Maybe it had something to do with his brother going there and he is one the fastest kids in section III? Funny how ND wants to claim they had something to do with it and he only went there for a couple of months. By the way, he is running track at Clinton this spring. lol

Regardless of where these kids land...it's always a good thing to see a kid set themselves apart and move forward to play.

Good to have the chance to offset the cost of college with a sports scholarship too.
