One day a year. How many of those "outsiders" are former residants that used to live in the utica area and just come back for the race? How many runners actually spend more than one night in utica who actually buy hotel rooms and don't stay with relatives? How many of those runners live within driving distance of utica, come run the race, and leave? Hurry up whitesboro trash.
Where's the team fat rash? Take you're face from Cretin's butttwholelipps and answer the question. Tell your mammy to stop by tomorrow same time - Macy's at Cross Gates Mall - and I'll let her slob gum my johnson.

We should know for sure on Monday or Tuesday at the latest. It's been reported in news articles that the deadline for declaring where each NHL team will place their AHL affiliate is May 13. Vancouver still has not declared where they will place the AHL franchise they recently purchased that was based in Peoria, IL. There has been speculation that Vancouver will place it in Utica.

Thanks for the info, but was more curious about the claim made in the initial post. Wondering if there is any truth to claim or just someone hyping up issue again.

Do you think the city should fund paving and infrastructure upgrades before Aud improvements?
$2 mil wouldn't do a lot of work though. IF a team comes that is an investment that would bring in more $ from tax dollars collected from the players, coaches, support staff, and patrons. I would like to see all the crappy roads in Utica paved but I think repairing the Aud that does bring in revenue from UC hockey is a good bet on the future revenue the city and county will collect on that. The $2 mil is coming from the state and is pennies compared to what our area makes in taxes of that facility and it's events. In my opinion.

Under the crime of burglary, 30.4% of arrested are Black and 67.8% are White. The Black burglary rate 30.4 over 13, divided by the White burglary rate of 67.8 over 85, gives a figure of 2.93.

If these arrest records accurately record the commission of burglaries, that means that Blacks commit burglary at almost 3 times the rate of Whites.

Using the same methodology, the figures other crimes can also be broken down:

Weapons violations are committed by Blacks at nearly 5 times the rate for Whites;

Blacks are caught receiving or buying stolen property at nearly 5 times the rate for Whites;

Blacks are involved in prostitution at almost 4 times the rate for Whites;

Blacks are arrested for drug crimes at over 4 times the rate for Whites;

Blacks are more than three times as likely as Whites to be caught at forgery, counterfeiting, and fraud, and almost three times as likely to be caught at embezzlement;

Blacks are more than 3 times as likely to be thieves as Whites;

Blacks are more than 4 times as likely to commit assault as Whites;

Blacks are almost 4.5 times as likely to steal a motor vehicle;

Blacks are more than 5 times as likely to commit forcible rape as Whites;

Blacks are over 8 times as likely to commit murder as Whites;

Blacks are more than 10 times as likely to commit robbery as Whites;

Nearly 25% of all Black males between the ages of 20 and 29 are in jail or on probation - this does not include those wanted or awaiting trial;

Holy Christ guys, I was only kidding on my initial post. Did/Do you really still think we're able to get a team? No guys, no. This was shot down over 2 months ago, remember?

The Aud can't support it...sorry. Times have changed. We (Utica) have not. So we will only have what we have and I don't see a change coming any decade soon.

Sorry I hyped up everyone again!(and you guys thought the Cliff-Master was bad....HA!!!)

The point is this. The city of Utica is required by law ( after a referendum a few years ago) to include a minimum of $2 million a year in their budget for paving. They didn't do that this year because Utica taxpayers couldn't afford it. Many of our streets look like third world goat paths.
Now, with that said, does it seem like a good idea to use tax money for Aud improvements specifically designed to attract a privately owned AHL team?

I have no problem with any upgrades or enhancements to the Aud that need to be done in order make it a viable venue for a wide range of entertainment and it can be shown that it is self sustaining. There are no guarantees with an AHL team. Look at the financial record of the team that was being courted. The Abbotsford heat have cost (and continue to cost) the taxpayers of their home city millions of dollars under the current agreement.

You say
"The $2 mil is coming from the state"
Newsflash!
It's all taxpayer money. High taxes that go to support these schemes is one of the major reasons that New York State has a $60 billion cumulative debt and continues to be the worst of the 50 states to do business in.

My point was it isn't City money, it's state money. If the state gives us money to fix the Aud great. It needs improvements to keep the revenue that does come in from current events. That was my point.

Well picking on the $2 mil to fix a local landmark is a bad place to start chipping away at that $60 bil.

The amount of your $ going to fix the Aud is less than $1.00. It's your opinion that you don't want the $.33 cents of your taxes to go to fix the Aud, I'll cover your share.
