This doesn't suprise me, they stated in the town newpaper that the cars, coolers, backpacks, and etc are subject to search, but it never happens. Also, stated in the newspaper, the ABC store would be closing at 2 PM, but I bought my bottle at 4:22 pm. You could clearly see many people walking around drinking in public, but I wonder why the police can't. Maybe it's because they only stay in one spot until a fight breaks out and then act as a pack of wolves to get to the scene. I even seen a cop walking by people that were drinking and the police officer did nothing. Doesn't really suprise me, because what would the Festival be without booze?

These people aren't being idiots. If you are smooth and don't drive and have some composure, you're good. Otherwise you get the cuffs. Think of how many arrests there would be if they arrested everyone they saw.

There's not really any trick to it. You just have to be cool. Some folks can't do that :(

It's funny that you say these people are not idiots, but your comment seems to be coming from one. First, you told us about an 8 foot fence that was not even 8 foot. Now, you justify people that are breaking the law and defend the police that didn't do their jobs! Rules are what they are! If people break the rules, then it seems the police should do the job that was given to them without the excuse of putting them all in handcuffs! You do the crime = you do the time! BTW Jgaskins, there were many people at this event drinking in public and many were even recorded, even one where the drinking in public was reported to the police and the officer was recorded and just walked by! I'm sure that will look good for the sheriff's department as well to the Urbanna Oyster Festival highlights! How many of those people do you think drove home drunk? Hmmmm, maybe they drove cool and that made it all okay and smooth!!!!
