Proposal to Track Uninsured With Red-Light Cameras Has Cities Seeing Big Money

There are 20 comments on the www.foxnews.com story from Feb 26, 2010, titled Proposal to Track Uninsured With Red-Light Cameras Has Cities Seeing Big Money. In it, www.foxnews.com reports that:

Jan. 27: A red light camera is seen at an intersection in Clive, Iowa. Running a red light may get more complicated and more expensive for some of the country's uninsured drivers. Under a proposal by Chicago Alderman Edward Burke, cameras at 132 city intersections that currently enforce $100 red light violations would also be used to nab motorists whose cars are uninsured. Washington, DC officials told FOXNews.com it is willing to consider a similiar program.

Wonder how long till Morristown starts using the redflex cameras to hunt down people without car insurance? It's all about the all mighty dollar anwyay. At least for the city and county's that install the redflex camera's. Oh sure they will say it's for safety first. The council members have to get re-elected right?

sets a precedent for info search on individuals while traveling as well(criminal record, handgun permit,etc)...but they wouldn't possibly use that against you, would they?

I fear America is heading towards a catch all type identification. One that will hold your drivers license, concealed carry, health information and all of your history on 1-2 cards. It's been building for years. But I can see this happening more now then in times before. It may be a another decade down the road. But folks? It's coming. If you live long enough? Wait and see!

I am a law abiding citizen and I like to see criminals caught and recieve their just punishments but I also enjoy living in a free nation. Where will these intrusions end ? We can already be tracked by our cell phones, by the electronics in newer autos, photo traffic enforcement, at what point is it to much ? My Tom Tom can already tell me how fast I'm going and what the speed limit is on the Hwy. I'm traveling on, how long before the cameras are outdated and we are just satellite tracked and mailed tickets for everything ? It's not far fetched at all, we could be getting tickets for failing to signal even if we're the only ones on the road at the time. If a person makes a mistake, and we all do, should the govt. profit from it ? The insurance tracking should be easy, don't sell em tags without proof of insurance.

Some states already require proof of insurance to purchase tags. But there are two problems that they have. First people drive on expired tags, with no insurance. Second, people cancel their insurance the day after they receive the tags.
I'm with you...people need to do the right thing...follow the law of the land. This will put the cameras out of business!

George Orwell's book 1984 was written in 1934 or close (mid to late 30's ) this was considered the new science fiction at that time and mocked at as ridicules by most people.By 1984 a lot of it had became reality on mainly a low key,as to not upset the natives ....now the reality of the book is here ! i still wonder with all the technology that is available & used on the people why cant they find Ben -lad-ion and other criminal minds instead of using it on law abiding citizens and minor offenses ? we are human & do make errors occasionally ,not intentionally, yet we are caught & sentenced ...how many illegals come over the borders in a 24 hour period along with drugs and organized crime and only 1 out of 500 or so is caught...then turned loose because they are illegal ? we really need to turn the system back around and vote to make our voices heard & not ignored ...we need to change back

Agreed, as I'm really surprised that we still use paper and coin currency.I have long speculated that sooner or later everyone would be issued a card that your employer could place your earnings on.This card is of course linked to a huge national database monitored by the government or a optioned government subsidiary. All credit earnings and debt payment could then be electronically tracked.
Also this card could be used to pay bills and debts at home or in department stores by say swiping it in a machine.Such like they do when you use your credit, debit or any other card.
You could have one of those computer linked machines at home to use your "currency card" in to pay your electric bill, or gas bill, your telephone bill or any other bill.I am really surprised in this age of electronic cyberspace supremacy, that we still use paper and coin currency.

That's the deal right there. We all need to pay attention to everything our "mis"leaders do, and constantly remind them we're watching.

I have no problem with tracking people with no insurance.
I think that if you do not have proof of insurance you should not be allowed to get a tag, car, or license.
If caught with no insurance then your car should be taken and sold at public auction.

Nasty white trash finds money for their lottery tickets, cigarettes, and beer but they just can not afford insurance.

Take a few cars away and the next time they will find money for insurance.

Would be hard to track just people with no insurance. Surely you have not thought this thing thru? They would have to track everyone! They would have the ability to have everyone's information. Or at least the people that make way thru the intersection with the camera's. Once more it is an intrusion by the government.

Mexicans have no worries they drive with no insurance, no license, stolen tags, and even allow their 12 year old kids to drive on trips to Knoxville. If they have an accident they just walk off with no fear of punishment as the law does nothing to them at all.
I know this for a fact as I have a family member that was hit by a 12 year old running a stop sign on their way to Knoxville to a doctors appointment driving a car with a temporary tag on it. The police watched them walk off leaving the totaled car at the site.

As for the tag deal I have an acquaintance that received a red light ticket for their tag but it was not their vehicle in the picture. Upon going to the police station and explaining that their tag was on a vehicle that did not belong to them but was missing off of their vehicle they were told that it wasn't usual for the Mexicans to steal tags and put them on their vehicles.

You see as white Americans you fail to see how the system works. The minorities stay on protest constantly while you work and pay the taxes that the government gives them so they can afford to protest so you will pay more so they can get healthcare for protesting. Now that they have that in their pocket and you are going to pay for it they want the illegal s to become citizens so that they can join their protests and live better off of you working.
As soon as they get that they want to charge you a $5.00 tax on gas so they can get more protest finiancing. Then they want Cap and tax so they cane live even better off of yoru work. Now if that don't get your attention you need to know that your a raciest fi you protest any of this.
Of course they have already sent your job overseas so you are unemployed or soon to be so and this whole thing is going to crash down around your neck but it won't effect them because the government has their back and the very last person on this earth to do without is the least worth while of us.

Yea no wonder they all flee to morristown. It makes me sick to think about the mexicans. If they r gonna live here speak the language here and get off welfare and food stamps. By your own ins. on health, dental, car etc. If the mexicans want to b treated equal then they need to clean up their act as well as their homes. What in the name of God is Morristown officials thinking of by letting them have everything free and us hard working people from here suffer????

They do not get insurance, licenses, etc. because THEY DON'T HAVE TO! They get free medical, rent, groceries, and anything else they want. There are even agencies to assist them in getting these subsidies. Work? They DON'T HAVE TO! They have reached the promised land, the rest of us are up s**t creek.

Exactly and why are these practices in place? the progressives will starve their own neighbours and steel from the wealthy with no remorse to give these people services and then call the people names that disagree with them. They do all of this under the guise of compassion but their compassion is supported with your money. If they give us their money we could be compassionate also. The ride is great as long as the wealthy pay the bill but now that its out in the open what they intend the wealthy will cut off the money flow and they will have to figure out how to pay for it all. It won't happen and the entire country will come crashing down hard. When that happens lets see how compassionate they are then.
