Wow!! I seriously hope you are kidding!!! You call your self an American...try an ***hole. Get a life and try to look beyond your fireworks! There are people out there that have been born with disabilities and can not handle the noise....there are also many animals that can not handle the noise. Are you really that heartless??? Maybe you need a little God in your life if you can seriously post something like you did over fireworks!
The reason the larger fireworks are illegal and the are set off in certain areas is because they are a fire hazard. When they shoot them off there are always fire fighters on hand in case something goes wrong. Do you have them at your house when you are shooting them off incase you set your neighbors house on fire??? Just something to consider!
This has to be one of the most STUPID comments I have ever read
I had to make sure I JUDGED your COMMENT
OOPS!!!(I might have clicked on the wrong one) SORRY !!!

the law about fireworks is stupid.... there are cops in this town that go get there own fireworks and shoot them off.... is anyone gonna take theres away come on who cares why complain about someone having some fun on the 4th.... when the city shoots them off you can hear them miles away so theres always gonna be noise no matter what.... just get over it

I don't have an issue with fireworks unless they are going off at 11:00 at night when I have to get up at 5:30 in the morning for work!!! People need to respect their neighbors and realize they don't want to listen or see their fireworks. I will go see the fieworks put on by the professionals then go home and not bother all my neighbors while they try to sleep!!!

Ok, the "firework" pictured now is more than likely a 4" or 5" artillery shell. Now I am the def. an advocate of legalizing Iowa fireworks, HOWEVER, this firework is a Class B Professional firework. This firework pictured is not legal to general consumers in the states of south dakota or missouri or nebraska either. These can be very dangerous due to their massive size and large explosive potential.

Because the person had these in their possession, I am glad he was caught, and I am glad these were confiscated.

Now, that being said Class C (consumer grade fireworks) should be legal.

Happy 4th all!!!!

Livonia MI???? That's not anywhere near Urbandale Iowa...sooooo why should your opinion be heard. Does your special needs child, god bless this child as I am a mom and not a heartless b-witch, does your child have that good of hearing to know when the fireworks go off in Iowa??? If you have an issue in your neighborhood then god bless you and hope you work that out with your neighbors....but here in Iowa, Urbandale where this is happening, its the time of year to rejoice in the fact that yes we are still a free country. We may in the very near future not have the right to celebrate this holiday, if the people in the world that hate this country get their way, we will have no freedom, no control or rights to make our own decisions...so we have the right now to celebrate and should do so before it is taken away from us. I do hope your special needs child is able to survive this holiday and that this child may see many more free 4th of July celebrations in the future and that this country holds onto its freedom.

I believe fireworks (beyond snakes and sparklers) should be legal in Iowa. I also agree that it's not the smart thing to do, setting them off in a neighborhood setting. Not just because all neighbors aren't into it, but because there is an elevated risk of accidents or accidental fires. I think if you're going to buy some works and live on an acreage, GO FOR IT (I DO). This is why I bought an acreage. Well, one of the reasons. I hated neighbors telling me what I could or couldn't do regardless of time of year. We'll shoot off fireworks for New Year's too! Probably MORE than on the 4th! Point is, be safe people. And remember, not everyone is so patriotic as we are. Just be careful, but most of all, have FUN and Happy Birthday USA!!!

I agree that we should not allow the government to strip all of our freedoms away...trust me...but what about the right's of those that don't want to hear it or chance their homes being put in jeopardy.

I'll go middle of the line with you...legalize them...but don't allow them in neighborhoods...they have no business being shot off around homes!!!! IT IS NOT SAFE!!!!

You are lucky that you don't have a special needs child who will scream in terror all the time he has to listen to this noise. If you really want to epitomize what being an American is all about...trying caring for your fellow human beings who are also American and take them out to the country. You do live in Iowa and I'm sure you can find a corn field somewhere if you look REALLY, REALLY hard.
i have a special need child to but she loves watching the fire works she plugs her ears and laughs and smiles the whole time yours would to if u didnt keep them isolated from it when they where little

oh please. I had a special needs child and he needed to be exposed to real life. God help your child. Give us a break and lighten up a bit. Let your child out of the bubble and get real. Let him or her live. It is you that needs help not your child.

Been living in Iowa over 20 years, and I still don't understand why Iowa has this law against having fire works. Iowa is a fairly a wet state, perhaps the law felt we also have a lot of dumb people living here or something. So to protect dumb people from self inflicted injuries, Iowa have the law.
Sometime learning the hard way (self inflicted injuries) can be the best learning curve. Let the fools learn the hard way Iowa.
