transgender teen faces challenge

Aug 10, 2008 Full story: www.lohud.com 117

Michael Arone has been called every pejorative someone could direct at a transgender teen.

Arone, a North Rockland school district 10th-grader, is a male transgender teen who publicly goes by Melissa Andrews and prefers to be referred to as a female.

Arone said classmates have routinely called her "faggot," "she-male," "it" and "queer" in response to her wearing eye shadow and lipstick, straightening her shoulder-length brown hair and carrying a purse to school.

"She's dealing with a hate crime," said her mother, Patricia Arone, 37. "That's the only way to say it, it's hate."

We didn't choose to be born in the wrong bodies. We didn't bring anything on ourselves.

We don't like you, either, and don't want anything to do with you, but we have to suck it up and deal with your shit when you come around slinging insults that we don't deserve. All you have to do is mind your own goddamn business. We're not bothering you; you're bothering us.

"sean Hannity" is also known on Topix as CTAuxie.

And is known in general as Nick K.D Chaleunphone. Nick like to dress in women's clothing on occasion, but does not consider this to be crossdressing, since he is intersex.

Nick has Kallman's syndrome, and has managed to upset 30 different different IS boards with his idiocy in regards IS matters, and has an unreasoning and intense dislike for transsexuals.

why do you think that is, given that he "takes testosterone so he doesn't have to transition" and calls his admitted micropenis his "clit".

Look again at what he is saying -- calling thngs it, sayng they are trying to force themselves on someone else, etc etc etc...

Now, I can and do serve as a therapist. And I can say without any doubt, given what he has written on his blogs (readily searchable), that he has deep conflicts and multiple unresolved issues in terms of his sexual identity that stem from deep frustration and resentment.

He gets a thrill trying to "out" me (despite the fact I'm about as out as it gets), and he honestly believes that by spreading my picture around as much as possible he can somehow make it so that I will be kicked out of women's spaces.

Don't be overly hard on him. He hasn't a clue, and the OCD he suffers from is in an active, uncontrolled state at this time that, when combined with his depression, is a certain recipe for bad schtuff.

Pity and try and help him.

He wants that.

Let's give it to him.

Hey Sean, calm down. No one but you knows that you like to wear panties sometimes. I have noticed that the people who hate me the most, see a little of me in themselves.

Actually, a lot of people know that. He confessed it on three IS boards.
He sees more than a little.
His own blogs sorta damn him, as well.

Garbage and hate.
My questions to you:
When are you going to quit hating yourself so much?
Do you realize that every time you hate someone/something as much as you show to us on the boards, you are killing a piece of yourself?

Wrong. Your's and society's ignorance and prejudice is NOT "her" fault. And she is being who she IS, not who she isn't. Just because people don't understand transgenderism does not give anyone the right to harrass them.

Someone puts forth a valid argument, and all you can do is cry "queer"? Why not debate the issue at hand, instead of showing your juvenile ignorance?

That's pretty simple to do. Just look at how Sean continues to morph from one screen name to another! He is constant, however, in that he continues to be an uneducated jerk!
I just don't get it with why folks have a problem with someone like Melissa. Just exactly how does this person effect anyone else? Is it because folks like Sean are so insecure in their own sexuality that they fear transgenderism just might rub off on them or that they just might be attracted to them?
Hi Rikki S. You are one of the better looking trans gendered that i have seen lately.Your adams apple isnt that big, so you look a little more acceptable than some of your cohorts lumbering around, which is what i think causes the biased against your type of trans gendered, the male to female. But good luck, and maybe get a few more hormone shots, i hear that helps!!

That may be asking too much of the poor kid. Debating is not his forte. He just likes hanging aroung the gay/lesbian threads.

I actually have gone to school with this person. Not that i actually know this person from a relationship or friendship, mearly from seeing "her" in the hallways / outside shcool. Not that i have anything actually mean to say about this person, I guess i really just have to vouche for other students: If you honestly, see a man,(or at least assumed one) and wearing fashion of women in a public school with a large attendance of students. You cant expect someone NOT to say anything. Maybe not picking on this individual is the most radical thing to do, but you cant really expect other individuals to accept someone of this nature right away. Hey, do what you want. Its not my life. Just please dont make a big deal over something that doesnt need to be a giant phenomenon. Hate is all around us. Hate and racism have exsisted since almost the beggining of time. Sure, we all want it to go away, but dont make everyone feel sorry for you because you are "treated unfairly". Its not the school boards fault either. Obviously they havent dealt with this kind of situation before and are dealing with it the best way they can. Like i said before, i have nothing against this person. I just dont see how it is such a big deal, when there are millions of "hate crimes" occuring each day.

Actually, yes, you CAN expect people not to say anything. A child should be able to feel safe in her own school, and in her own skin. Saying that bigotry has existed forever does NOT make it right. The Civil Rights Movement was succesfully able to end a great deal of bigoted practices. That is what people are trying to do now. It is the job of the government, or in this case, the school, to protect it's people (students). The fact that bullying is prolific does not make it okay.

And the high school I went to had several students that led alternative life-styles, and they were not bullied like this.

Well, you just have to look at it that people have their own looks on life. Just because YOU say everything is A-okay, doesnt mean the next person is. Who knows? maybe it should be illegal, but until then, we just have to hope for the best
