I was a first time customer in this black owned establishment and was not given the services requested. I asked for a trim but was given an extreme short cut also my sides were cut uneven. I ended up paying $85.00 for shampoo; wrap and trim (cut instead) which was overpriced and the cut given looks horrible on me. I will never go there again. I feel jilted and forced to pay for a cut when I asked for a trim only. I left abruptly and didn't tip. I had to go home and try to restyle this unwanted cut.

I love the ambience and the prompt service I receive when I go to this beautiful salon. When I walk out of the shop, I always feel like a pretty woman. People often stop me and ask "Where do you get your hair done"? I refer them to Concepts! I am very pleased with the services and the friendly treatment I recieve when I go there, infact I look forward to going to my appointments!

Wow! you only paid $85.00 for a wrap and trim at a upscale day spa. Maybe you needed a hair cut from the beginning, trust me no stylist is giving away cuts these days if you asked for a trim that's what you'll get! A good hair cut cost about $45 on up. You went home and played in your own hair I would like to know if you've been doing that all along. I suggest YOU keep your hands out of your hair and find a stylist to do your hair on a regular basis in your price range. Concepts keep doing you thang in the area! Some customers we satisfy and others just.......

A Stylist your comments were totally unnecessary. A stylist should not be insulting, but rather meet the needs of their clients. Her stylist should have earned her trust (that is, if she wants the business to be successful). She should have given a trim as requested. If the client did not like the trim she requested, then the stylist could have discussed a cut or different style. You never know she would have liked her trim and returned for more services. We want our black businesses to be successful. It's time to be professional and understanding, not insulting. We know our hair is very important to us, it IS one of our features that makes us feel beautiful.

Like I said some customers we satisfy and others!.........As for success, take the limits off its not about black or any other color hair is hair and business is business.

Judging by the way you've poorly handled criticism, I've lost my desire to support Concepts. You're probably a decent stylist, but your attitude is putrid. I can only imagine your nastiness would negate my salon experience. So, I'll pass.

Wow. I told my last stylist I had to leave because the people were so rude. I was considering concepts. I just saw it for the first time today. And I'm convinced that this place has nothing to offer. For a disgruntled customer to voice her opinion and a stylist to be rude to her is beyond me. Hair styles can be taught. Common courtesy, not so much. I will be going elsewhere.

I worked at Concepts for a couple months and have been a client of one of the stylist for years. the environment is very relaxing and very welcoming. customer service is amazing the the workers are very professional. what you may see here is not at all what the shop is like. they do good business and are very professional and i advise anyone to stop in and see for themselves. i promise you will not be disappointed.

I have heard a great deal of mixed feelings about this place. The comments posted by A Stylist were totally uncalled for. I will NOT be spending my money there. Her attitude seems really bad. Thanks for the warning

I went to Concept after being told about it and I was pleased with the services I received. I was very picky about my selection but the stylish worked with me and I left there looking fabulous. After reading all of the comments and seeing the negativity that WOMEN are displaying to each other about hair is sad. Everyone is different and we all have our own opinions. We need to judge things by seeing for ourselves. Everything is not for everybody but Concept salon is for me. You guys keep doing what you are doing. God Bless

I feel bad for the client who had a bad experience. Im an on and off again client but everytime I have come here, I get great service. I appreciate their efforts and success to adhering to time and I love my hair. As far as stlying your own hair, I think we all put our own lil twist to our hair after getting from anyones chair but that doesnt mean the stylist is not good. As a client, I know theres a fine line between communicating with the stylist without tryn to offend anyone but its ok to say you know, id like it this way verus that way, can we try this. Instead of saying ok and jus leaving not giving the stylist a chance. Lets support each other and attempt to resolve issues rather than being quick to bash. Im sure the negative experience could have been turned around. Concepts is big on TLC with their clients.

Please note: There is more than one sylist in Concepts, and u can't judge all if sylist by anothers comment. I have been going to Concepts now for over 9 months and it is truly a breath of fresh air from my past experiences at other black owned salons. My hair is ALWAYS fly to death and I always receive excellent customer service along with appt. reminders. Please try the salon for yourself and see Nik, she is superb!!!!she's in a class all by herself!

I totally agree. I was looking for honest opinions and to see that the stylist are behaving this way already shows me that if you are not happy with your service it can get real unprofessional quick.

The customer service can use an upgrade. I have gone several times in the past and there were times when the staff was indirectly making not so nice comments about clients while they are still in the shop.

I was just about to by a half off deal on the spa services. I am so glad I looked them up before buying because seeing these comments turned me off. Ugh!

I am a natural stylist/braider at another location of the owners and I hv to say plz do not judge Koncepts by these posts. I don't remember seeing in "A Stylists" post that he/she works at Koncepts so take a moment to judge for yourself. Mr Freeman is always receptive to new ideas and suggestions especially from customers.

I am a current employee of Koncepts, and knowing the staff personally would never think the negative comments made, were from anyone I work with. To the unhappy customer I do apologize for your bad experience and also thank you for review, as we strive for better customer service every opinion counts. To anyone considering having any services, please feel free to just stop in, take the tour, and actually meet the staff, we'd love to have you even if it's just to say hello.

Awful experience! Concepts needs to learn a big lesson in customer service. I went there today to get a wash and set with Nakia Spriggs. I was already bothered when I came in and the woman just started washing my hair immediately without talking to me about what I wanted or even taking a look at my hair. I had never been there before!

Once I had my rollers out, I first asked "you're using the curling iron? ok, I just don't want the curls too tight." She rolled her eyes and said "they won't be tight" while glaring at me. I didn't feel comfortable with the curling iron so then I asked if I could be blown out. She had already started using a hot comb on my edges. She said "I don't do that" with a terrible attitude. No other options offered, just one way to do things. I finally asked if she could just wrap me up.

Her demeanor was unprofessional and nasty. But more than that, she failed to give me the client, what I wanted. I would have been ok with not getting blowed out had she explained what she was going to do.

So sick of the "sit back and I'm going to do what I want with your hair" attitude from these stylists! I pay your salary. Definitely not going back to this place. BTW- someone mentioned this is an upscale day spa. HA! This place is in a strip mall and literally 150 sq. feet. Do yourself a favor and do not go here.

.Concepts and Koncepts are now totally different Salons. CONCEPTS is newly relocated
To Largo and KONCEPTS in Upper Marlboro has acquired the space Concepts Day Spa and Salon was once occupied. Businesses changed hands. I have read all of the comments and out respect I empathize with all clients. I TOO am a client and actually a client of Ms Spriggs for over 10 years. But to the defense of Ms. SPRIGGS she is a great person and professional. Being human sorry if it was a bad day for the both of you it was unfortunate. She is very open to consults beforehand to discuss what you expect. As to the other reviewers I have been at both Concepts and Koncepts. Professional attitudes had been received by both sets of management styles! Believe me I have DISNEY training. So I am aware of Guest first attitude.
I cannot speak of Koncepts for the last year or so as I have continued with Concepts.
My advice would be to really call back and speak with management. Every customer deserves to feel special and in particular where our hair is concerned.
CHEERS to beautiful hair, Happy Guests and Hair Professionals.
Beat of luck to all!
