Everybody is saying that this trip was unnecessary. It was. The Convention site provided tribes and communities and education practitioners to see how well the Native Hawaiian's have done it. They have schools that are the most successful in the retention of their Native language and culture. It starts from infant growth, language nests, elementary to Ph.D.
By coming to Hawaii, these people saw how well the Native Hawaiians have succeeded at maintaining culture and language all while getting the best education. There are Native people all over the country, and that includes the Native Hawaiians. Native Hawaiians, Alaska Natives and American Indians, even the Navajo if you can believe it, are interested in giving the best education to their children and passing down their unique culture and languages.
That is the justification for going to Hawaii.
