This article highlights program for those who owe 6.81 million in back support. The last 2 attempts recovered $15,743 and $16,493.
Most of those who owe don't read this paper (or can't even read). Domestic relations wasn't hard enough on these deadbeats when the economy is good. Your tax dollars are supporting the children of these useless nonsupportive parents thru public assistance. Are you mad yet? Then speak out to those in power to change the domestic relations laws. If you know one, urge them to do right by their children. If you are one, pay up! You made these babies. If you have no children yet and can't afford them then keep your pants on.

the truth is an idiot ( an idiot only because the toilet paper blocks what i really mean :)) the courts are unfair to the paying parent. they put up a number and the father has to pay no matter what.. the mothers take the money and use it on anything but the kids. if you miss a payment they block your paychecks and bank accounts and you cannot even buy or sell a car or Home without being checked if you owe "THE Courts" any kiddey money. i know of fathers that have homes and new spouses and yet they cannot get their kids away from the single mothers that sleep around and do drugs. so yea these jerkoffs that work for the courts can all just go jump in a lake and drown. just get me so i can watch them all go under.

Obviously you haven't dealt with the clowns in DR. The state meddles in family affairs and creates these problems, puts laws in place to "enforce" and then fails to provide for the children.
Now the new plan is to threaten people to pay up or go to jail? The jails are already full of criminals and gov't is broke. Why should PA put more people in jail? What is it going to change? Parents don't have the money to pay.

Thank goodness. In 5 more weeks, the last of the child support payments stop coming out of my husband's paycheck. His child turns 18 and in Florida, he is considered and adult and it stops. Now we can put the 70 a week away for something more important. The money that was being sent down there was being used by the mother to support her drug habit.

Now she has to get off her lazy but and find work to support her habit.

If we can't put the deadbeats in jail, hang them and charge admission to offset the cost of taking care of the children. And then there are mothers that refuse to give a father's name and they also should be required to come up with the money and not get it from us the taxpayers. It bothers me when PARENTS REFUSE TO SUPPORT THEIR KIDS(Iwould like to cut their sexual organs off, including tongues).

I've been on both sides of the fence with DRS. For 16 years, I paid an average of $350/month for one child. Now, I GET childsupport for three and it rarely comes in.

Child support is a gender biased issue. The system is extremely forgiving for the mother who doesn't pay but brutal on the father that doesn't pay.

What saved me is 1) knowledge of the system and how it works and 2) when I did pay, I stayed on time even with a second family.

My 2nd X is the deadbeat. No support and she's just stays out of their lives for the most part.

The solution... let the deadbeat deal with any perceived unfairness from DRS and pay the bill. Hire good council if you have an issue. DRS has their issues with the system and just keeping things going. Learn the ropes and it works for you regardless if you are a payer or payee.

Mr. Danner...get a lawyer and get a DNA test. If you have adopted or have taken responcibility for the child in the past, you have an uphill climb to get out of this. Good council will help.

I know this... DRS will not waste time on anything. They want it solved just like you do. Approach them from a solution standpoint and you'll get tons of cooperation from them. Scream at them and they'll blast you right out of your socks. It's not fair, but that's how it is.

It has been proven that the child was not mine, but still these low lifes refuse to give me my hard earned money back. I have proof that Northampton County Domestic Relations are thiefs. Its a deadbeat system that creates a deadbeat parent

And the person who is paying the support should be able to claim the child on the tax return or at least claim half.

Any government office requires it to be listed it as income into the home.

It should be made tax deductible.

Something is wrong with the system if nearly 700 people owe $6.81 million for support. You do the math its almost a $100,000 average per person. How in the world could somebody have a support order reflecting these amounts. It appears to be a problem within the system rather than these nearly 700 so called deadbeats. Debtors prison is a tax payers burden and we deserve knowing the real truth just how somebodies support order can be so high. Its a real shame to lie to the tax payers! Its time Northampton County Domestic Relations becomes accountable to the tax payers and be honest.

Very informative post Steve J!

My husband's father paid something like $30 a month for child support. Even in the 70's it didn't come close to covering expenses. Yet still the old man acts as though he provided the WORLD. My husband still won't speak to him.

On the other hand my brother paid through the nose for child support and the mother used it for drugs.

There are always two sides to a topic.

The money I spend on supporting my children isn't tax deductable. In fact, we no longer qualify for child tax credit.

So, if you are irresponsible, the rest of us have to make it easier for you to live up to your responsibility?

No wonder this country is in such a mess.

If you are allowed to deduct money from travel expenses, child care, taking care of disabled person, etc., then taking care of your children that you don't live with you should be tax deductiable too. So you like giving away free money to your ex-spouse. I would make sure that what she gets is counted as income too. There is a system of checks and balances. If you are paying and she is receiving, then you both deserve some satisfaction.

But like I said before, my husband only has to pay 5 more weeks of support and then he is done. Thank goodness. Because now that money can be set aside for our daughter's education and other needs.

If these counties keep offering amnesty where is the incentive to do the right thing in the first place. I mean, these people have already proven they are losers because they won't even do the minimal for caring for their own children.. Why give them a break?

Pay your support and you wouldn't be so bitter. My ex went from paying $300.00 (choosing never to see his daughter) to $534.00 per month all because he didn't feel like going to a hearing. He paid the same $300.00 for 6 years and I never took him back to have it raised. Was he bitter when he had to pay $534.00 and it was his own fault. Don't have children if you don't want to support them.

PA child support is welfare--Women are awarded far more than what is necessary to support a child....which is why many women do not make agreements with the father without court intervention. The Domestic Relations system is so hostile, it has turned many men against their own children. The
