David, Thank you and God bless you. To his family- I am so sorry for your loss. You should be very proud of what David accomplished in his life. Obviously taken from this world too soon, remember him in love.

I have fought when others feared to serve.
I have gone where others failed to go.
I've lost friends in war and strife,
Who valued Duty more than love of life.

I have shared the comradeship of pain.
I have searched the lands for men that we have lost.
I have sons who served this land of liberty,
Who would fight to see that other stricken lands are free.

I have seen the weak forsake humanity.
I have heard the traitors praise our enemy.
I've seen challenged men become even bolder,
I've seen the Duty, Honor, Sacrifice of the Soldier.

Now I understand the meaning of our lives,
The loss of comrades not so very long ago.
So to you who have answered duties siren call,
May God bless you my son, may God bless you all.

Does anyone know if those crazy insensitive "God Hates America" people showed up to the funeral?

I had seen somewhere that they were planning on picketing outside. I saw it yesterday afternoon, and was too late to go up and give them a little piece of my mind.

What horrible people. These soldiers gave their lives for our country and they (God Hates America/Westboro Baptist Church) have the nerve to say god killed them and is happy about it. God is love not hate. These people are the devil incarnate hiding behind the bible.

I thank all soldiers for their commitment and their courage.

All these young kids being sent to fight a war, that seems to be only getting worse. I can't wait for bush to get out of office. The war has been going on for so long i forgot what we are fighting for? We need to worry about the "illeagals" coming in and taking "our" jobs. Let the foreigners in other countries take care of their own problems, we have enough going on in the states to worry about.

You need HELP!!!!!! It was your friends own decision!!!! NOT BUSH's He signed his name and he should be honored, not defaced like you are doing. And you blame GOD!!!! BLAME YOURSELF!!!
Honor the man for what he believed in. He died for it!

Please let go of your anger over the loss of your friend. If given a choice, your friend would not return to this earth because I am sure he is having a great time in heaven!

No parent should ever have to bury a child. Undoubtedly, Mr. and Mrs. Kirkpatrick, there is no one in the world who can understand your grief but those who have experienced themselves. I hope that it is some comfort to know that David got to show the world what he believed in, an opportunity that not everyone takes advantage of. I never knew David, but I mourn the loss of a fellow soldier and a good person nonetheless and I'm sorry to see this forum turned into an outlet for antagonists. May God be with you in your time of loss and always be proud of your soldier!

Rest in piece, brother in arms. Those who sit behind a keyboard complaining most likely have no concept of the kind of courage that it takes to serve during times like these.

Many people know what the words Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage mean. But how often do you see someone actually live up to them?

Thank you, on behalf of a grateful Nation.
