Why should law-abiding citizens be required to register firearms when criminals won't or don't? Can you explain that to me? You are so right..... When the government has a list of what you own it's easier for them to come to collect it. The fact that they can do that is scary enough. You know they think we can;t be trusted.

BO said he supports our 2nd-A rights, but his voting record on anything closely related to the 2nd-A says exactly the opposite. What ticks me off is the NRA'a campaign has caused firearm and ammo prices to go ballistic. A relatively inexpensive semi-auto version of an AK-47 two years ago would run you about $300. The last gun show I went to they were $600. A $1600 M1A now goes for around $2300. 380ACP ammo is non-existent in this area (as well as most other handgun calibers). So "cherry-picked" I'll agree on. Then perhaps you should worry more in regards to the whereabouts of all the armament that the good old USA and Soviet Union stuffed into Central and South America during the Cold War years, and worry a little less about American citizens exercising their right to keep and bear arms.

Sorry, Sgt Schultz, but you are wrong on all counts. Every able-bodied male in the USA is part of the general militia. I might consider complying with gun registration after every person gets a license to own each vehicle, baseball bat, 2x4, compressor, air tank, gas can, knife, hammer, letter opener, heavy book, saw, etc that can be used for deadly force.

Charlie: I checked the GOA (Gun Owners of America) website and the chances of HR45 passing are almost zero. To quote GOA "In all likelihood, H.R. 45 is probably a long shot at passing both houses of Congress, albeit gun owners should never take any proposed gun control bill for granted." I do find it interesting that the sponsor is Bobby Rush, a former Black Panther and out of the same Democrat machine as Obama.
