Buy the Sunday paper, maybe even the El Paso Times and clip your coupons to save on advertised items and try to only buy sale items. Dollar stores are fine, but mostly it is junk you don't need to have and you can't use coupons for the best values.

I don't understand how all of the Dollar Tree stores in town are such a wreck. But the high birth rate due to sloppy protection between the sheets produces sloppy parenting and sloppy children as far as I can tell.

All I have to say is glow sticks at the dollar store are cheap as heck and what kid doesn't love those! Have a difficult time getting your monster in the bath? Need a stocking stuffer? Wan't a safer way for the smallest of your family to enjoy themselves while the older kids are lighting fireworks or sparklers? The dollar store by albertsons and on university were a life saver when my toddler decided he wasn't going to bathe anymore!

i like big lots and savers the thrift store on main near solano for the best deals on DECENT quality stuff. The dollar tree stores tend to be ghetto'd out, as Penny putso very nicely, lol. but like the article said at the end, many times stores like wal mart have the same item cheaper. These discount stores are always worth a look. i often wonder how stores like macys and dillards stay in business. regardless i love las cruces and its people and its stores.

Why? Because as a mother I have found safe and fun ways for a child to do things he was averse to? Because I have to pinch pennies as I finish putting myself through the graduate program at NMSU as a single mother? Because you have an arbitrary notion about me based on the fact that I am thrifty and you feel the store and its merchandise are beneath you?

If you can make assumptions, so can I. Please take your meds and try to smile once in a while. I promise it doesn't hurt.

Most (say 99+%) of the coupons I see in the Sunday papers are for "name brand" items. My experience is that even with a coupon and a sale on the name brand product, I can get a better deal by buying the equivalent generic/store brand item. That's why most of the coupons I get wind up in the recycling. For products like toothpaste where the prices in the dollar stores are close to the Wal-Mart price, I'll use the coupons in the former and save both on the product and the gas needed to drive the extra distance to the latter.

Can you say "minimize the price/performance ratio"? Can you also say "There's a sucker born every minute."? If it wasn't for the suckers not knowing about the former, everybody would be driving black Model T Fords instead of over-sized, over-powered pink Cadillacs with two cup holders for every passenger. And it's why people clip coupons for overpriced name brand products.

Match a coupon to a sale and go in during double and triple coupon weeks and you will sing another tune. Walgreens lets you use your coupon from the paper with the instore ad coupons every time. Enjoy your box of Hydrox, some knock offs don't compare to the original. You keep paying full retail on the generics to save what ever it is you think you are saving. http://savingscommunity.coolsavings.com/profi...
