Makes me wonder too, my daughter found what looks like for sure part of a human leg bone sticking out of the sand in a creek here local, and the first thing I thought of was the few people missing around here in this area, may be one of their bones!
Tessie, did you turn in the leg bone to the police?? It would be the only way the bone could be tested to find out who it belongs to.

Does anyone know if, there is a chance, just maybe the TPD would let a group of honestly concerned civilians work on a cold case such as this one? Not for monetary purposes, but just for the simple fact of solving a crime that should have been many years ago. Helping a family and a community have answers they have longed for, for all these years now.
Cassie, I have thought for awhile about how to get a team of interested civilians together to start investigating the case. I think that's a great idea and I'm very interested in helping. I was just a little girl when this happened but it's haunted me for years. Leigh deserves justice.

I could not agree with you more. I have quite a few connections that I could get up with to ask about that just to see what the options could be. That would be awesome if we could do that and hopefully come up with something. Some times all a cold case needs is a fresh pair of eyes and an open mind. You hear all about different cold cases getting solved because they allowed unexperienced, curious citizens to get in on the action. Never know it could be just what this 20+ year old case needs.

Did her grandma have polygraphs done for her? I found three pieces of possible evidence that it was her. I doubt it though.

What bothers me about this is that I have read on the Charley Project site that it was her first time home alone but then her mother said they had a special code system for when she called her (letting it ring twice and then calling again). The mother stated it like it was something that they used frequently.

The mother said when she called Leigh they had a ring. How could that be when Leigh never had ever stayed by herself. Unfortunately I don't believe a word that the mother has said. I believe as a mother if your child was missing I would be kicking and screaming everyday. When you know where they are that does not happen. Leigh's father needs that peace where you know where his child is. Its been long enough. May God bring justice for Leigh and the truth come to light.

On Sunday, August 21, 2016 Leigh would have been 37 years of age.
This week marks the 24th year anniversary of her disappearance.

I was 10 when all of this went down. I still remember watching the 9 alive news casts and hearing about it. It sucks that it had to happen and end the way it did.

I can assure you they haven't stopped looking. And everyone saying to check the creek bed. Its checked. Has been twice over the last 7 years including with new sonar technology. The entire yard and creek both have been rechecked, they still come by often and ask to try new things. TPD has not forgotten your daughter Mr. Occhi. I promise. Email me if you need to but I have nothing else to offer aside from this really.(tacosparkle(at) gmail.com ) & no I will not talk to anyone else so please do not email, it will be deleted.

The TPD couldn't open a case of doughnuts, even if the case fell open they couldn't count all of them without pulling off one boot. But hey, the new police station is really nice.

They need to check the creek behind this one house on Ruth Street (the people where related and had contact with Vickie and also vanished the same time) and also right South of Yarbroughs old house. Excavate Rip Rap and sift thru mud!!!! I was childhood friend and lived right by her and know that her mom is to blame. I personally watched her mom sit in my living room the next day with no emotion ..... not one single tear. She was at one point laughing, like a weight had been lifted. She is guilty!!!!!! Check the creek!!!!!!! Her mom had all night to dispose of body not that morning. I would like to know if they would find her in that creek bed under the rip rap.
