Donnie was a very well liked person. He was a wonderful father, husband, son, and brother as well as a good uncle. He was doing what he wanted to do trying to protect his family. We will all miss him but he died a hero in my eyes. I love him very much and he will always be in my heart.

First and foremost, I am sorry for your loss. 1Lt. Carwile and I was in the same attachment during Officer Candidate School. We were both policemen at one time. I want you to know that he will never be forgotten. We both served in Afghanistan as Platoon Leaders. He was a remarkable Soldier. More importantly, he loved his wife and kids dearly. You are truly missed by many; your legacy lives on.
