My family came from Moneymore, Tyrone Co. Ireland in the late 1800s and settled in Middletown N.Y where they were dairy farmers. They realized that as they put their milk on the train for NYC at a price the price in NYC was at least 5X that. They were doing the work and the man in NYC was reaping the profits.
Family moved to NYC.
One of the sons Paul B. Malone went to the local Middletown Catholic school and then on to West Point where he excelled. He became a member (a major General) of Pershings staff in WW1 and received many honors in famous battles (Meuse River, Argonne Forest).
Anyone in Middletown keeping a history that I can contact?
This is all I know so far.

Paul,
I'll contact you separately re' where we are from and how I know about Moneymore, Ire. On this site I was hoping somebody would put me in contact with a Middletown town historian or land records department.
I'm living out here in California...Palos Verdes to be exact.
It all started in Middletown!
I think it is a great story that a son of Middletown schools and the son of Middletown dairy farmers...and the son of immigrants...got himself into West point and rose to become a highly decorated general under Pershing in WWl...yet we hear little of him.
Thanks for replying cousin, I'm be back to you shortly.

Hello,
My name is Debbie. My grandmothers name was Francis Claire Malone. Her Fathers brother was Major General Paul B. Malone, a famous General, and author of the 5 West Pointe books. She lived in New York where her father owned a big Dairy. She was youngest in her family. Is it possible we could be related?. My mother has pictures and articles about him.

Hi Debbie, My name is Jessie and I am also a great grandchild of Paul B. Malone. My grandmother Milly was his daughter. By chance when talking to a lady at a local church penny social in upstate NY, my sister happened upon the grandchild of Hugh Malone, my great grandfather's brother and I guess your grandmother's brother as well. Apparently, we get around! Holly, Hugh's granddaughter had lots of info on the other siblings and I'd love to know more. Beside's Grandpa's information from my mom, I don't know much about the other brothers and sisters.

Hi Jessie,
Greetings from your cousin, Michelle. Our mothers were sisters. Its been about 15 years since we last saw each other. I've been in contact with Frank Malone for several years now, working on the Malone genealogy. If you're interested, I'd be happy to share what we've found.
Debbie, if your mother has photos or other documents she'd like to share that would be wonderful. I'd like to let you know that Frank Malone lives in the San Francisco area and he is always having Malone family reunions. You should get in touch with him. Also, another Malone cousin, Victoria Martin, lives in California. She is the only descendant of one of the Malone sisters that we've found to date. She married a Sheridan in Middletown, and they moved to Grant's Pass, OR. If you'd like to get in touch with her please let me know and I'll try to hook you all up.

Hi.

My great-grandfather was an Irish immigrant from Ballivor in County West Meath - Chris Kiernan-and a dairy farmer in Cuddebackville on the Oakland Valley Road. They sold their milk to NY City too.

I'd be very interested to know more of these Malones from Moneymore. My grandfather was Peter Malone, born of John Malone and Rose O'Neil, Ballymulligan, Moneymore. My branch would be different from yours, but Francis is a recurring name in my Malone family. 1002

Great Grandfather Paul B. was the Commandant of Ft. Bennings in the early 20's. His youngest daughter Mildred met her husband, Capt Orryl S. Robles there. They were married soon after. They were my grandparents. My mother always said Grandpa Robles was in charge of the base stables at the time they met.

After reading all these posts I am convinced I am related to and met General Paul B. Malone toward the end of his life. This occurred in the upper Bronx NY in an area north of Spyten Dyvel (Spitting Devil) off of Palisade Avenue. It was the residence of my two maiden aunts, Grace & Edna Malone, sisters to my grandfather Paul E. Malone. These siblings were the children of dairy farmers in the NYC area. The aunts made annual trips to Ireland to see family as they were school teachers and had family money. I can be reached either by mobile phone or jtmalone@sbcglobal.net.
Thank You, Terry Malone

Dear Frank, I am a rare book dealer and I recently purchsed the entire West Point series (5 books) by Paul B. Malone. The books came from and estate of a former West Point grad, who must have known the author. The books are in horrible condition, but they are all signed Paul B. Malone, Brigadier General, U.S. Army on the front flyleaf. All of the signatures are identical, with the same pen and must have been signed at the same time. I doubt that these books were Malone's personal books because they are later printings. I suspect that he signed all of the books for this person at the same time, 1917? Obviously it was after he was appointed Brigadier General. You probably know when that was.
I wish I could donate the books to the family, but I am not in a position to do so. I deal in rare juvenile series books which these books fall into. So there is a demand for these books.
I am planning on putting the books on-line in the next few weeks, but in doing my research I ran across your blog and figured I would contact the family as this may be something you are interested in.
I am going to list the books for $500, but if the family would like them you can have them for $250 + shipping and insurance.
The books really should be rebound in leather or something decorative, which is what a collector would do. Steve Bolter / Sleuth Books

Barbara, I know your family well.
Your mother or father was one of three children living in the Northern Bronx....my first cousins. One was Joey...then two sisters....mother's name Virginia. I'm reaching back in my memory maybe 60 years....I'm 72 years old.
But I remember vividly when your grandfather passed away. It was the first time I had seen my father cry. Joe was the baby of the family and I think my father was the second youngest....they were close!
Your family then moved to Florida and we lost touch.
Please respond...my personal email is FXMALONE1@mac.com

Where in Florida did your family move to...I recall the Jacksonville area.
Cousin Frank

Hi Frank and Cousins,
Still looking for the other sisters of Paul B. and his six brothers. We know the eldest sister, Annie, married James Morrison in Middletown and later moved to Oregon, but what about Mary and Hannah, the two other sisters born in Ireland. And what happened to Bessie, the last Malone child. She was last known to be living in NYC with Hannah and Willie in the 1900 census. Any stories cousins??
