Couple suspected in identity theft

A Uniontown woman and her husband are accused of stealing her 74-year-old mother's identity to purchase several thousands of dollars worth of merchandise.
Deborah Ramey, 49, and Ward Ramey, 46, are charged with theft from an elderly person. Deborah Ramey also is charged with identity fraud, receiving stolen property, forgery and misuse of a credit card. All of the charges are felonies.
Deborah Ramey's mother called the Summit County Sheriff's Office when she began getting calls from creditors. Deputy Linda Urycki said Deborah Ramey began opening credit accounts last November in her mother's name. Deborah and Ward Ramey used the credit to pay rent and buy cellular phone service, computers and a car, Urycki said. Read more
