I think they should change the laws. I don't drink at all but I can't go into Applebee's or Giant Eagle legally with my weapon on and concealed. You keep referring to bars on your broadcast most of us that are licensed to carry a weapon don't go to bars and would never consider carrying a weapon into one. Ohio law specifically states that if you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs you cannot have a weapon on your person. Unlike driving there is no specification of what is under the influence, as it pertainns to carrying a weapon one is too many.

These carry permit holders will not be consuming alcohol, That will still be illegal. Also, most don't realize that these places already have guns carried there, albeit by the "thugs". At least the rest of us won't be perceived as unarmed victims with no means of self defense. Since no one will know, All patrons will be safer.

Steve. You and I are on the same page with most of this, I believe in the second ammendment and strongly believe those who get a permit are law abiding people who we do not need to worry about...BUT why on earth would you want to carry a gun into a family restaurant like an applebees. I would think most any criminal who pulls a gun in a restaurant wants to use it as nothing more than leverage to get whatever he wants. Pull a gun inside a family restaurant that guy is now tempted to start a gunfight and my kids are just as likely to get killed as the bad guy. Guns in your house to protect yourself and your property,,,good! Guns behind the counter as a deterrent to thieves, ok! Guns in an applebees.....is that really necessary?

Can you imagine going to a football game with Rowdy criminals carrying weapons? Personally, I want to be able to defend myself and my family. Permit holders must go through a police check, and a course. Concealed Carry Permit holders are not the problem. Also, Mr Data is alledged to be a "strong supporter" of the 2nd ammendment, but his words say otherwise. Cmon Fox News Cleveland, Fair and Balanced is supposed to be more than lip service.

I don't necessarily want to carry into Applebees but if I am out and decide to stop and have dinner I can't go to Applebess because they sell alcohol. I have no delusions of being Wyatt Earp. I would never pull a weapon to attempt to stop a robbery, nor would any of the people who attended the training. Concealed Carry is not about law enforcement it is about self defense. The only reason to draw a weapon is the imminent threat against life.

I think concealed carry is okay, but I don't think they should permit it where alcohol is served because people can get out of control while intoxicated.

Ohioans should have the right to defend themselves anytime anywhere; Not only from local criminals, but from potential terrorists who may target large gatherings of people such as a sporting event. What if they target an event in Ohio? Are you going to throw your hot dog at them, or are you going to want to legally have the right tools to defend yourself and your family within arms reach?

The CCW holders are the most law abiding citizens out there. You can not drink anywhere when carrying concealed. No one wants to risk their permit over a beer. The other issue is traveling to and from the restaraunt. The safest place for the gun is on your person not left in the car. I will not patronize a downtown Cleveland restaurant if it means leaving my firearm in the car.

You cannot consume alcohol in any amount and legally carry a weapon. Anyone who has taken the CCW training knows this and would not consider drinking while carrying a weapon.

i have my concealed carry and I think there is alot more places that I should be carring my gun. I believe this would be a great thing to pass. If you check records you will find people with the concealed carry use thier guns wisely and alot less. And criminals use thier guns whenever they like. Jessica Burge of Mansfield

As usual things got turned around with the Bill for concealed carry. The law now prohibits lawful carry where alcohol is served. New proposal would permit concealed carry in an establishment that serves food and alcohol and still prohibits carry if alcohol is being concerned. The new bill still prohibits carry in an alcohol only establishement.
I wish going forward the news reports could research FIRST! I am a combat Marine from the Viet Nam era and wholeheartedly support this provision and others to clarify a very clody law.

If I am a LAW-ABIDING citizen, no matter where I am, I am not a threat to any other LAW-ABIDING people whether I have a concealed weapon or not. If it is concealed, you will never know. It would only be made visible if someone's life is threatened by a non-law-abiding thug.

I am and I'm not sure which is the right answer.Todaythis world we live in has turned to voilence and because of that we have to protect ourselves.I think its really awful we have to watch our kids, mom, dad, ect. If you don"t one could be killed for no apparent reason.I know some of you say you can die from anything.Well, most of our people in America are dyin from drugs, overdose, murder, look at the news.It is so sad I am going to pray for the right answer cause this could lead to street attacks bein able to have a concealed weapon. If someone is angry with you could lead to more killing.But.Then on the other hand innocent people need something to protect their selves.so think about this is it it really wise to have a concealed weapon?

Can't you leave it concealed in your car, in compliance with the law, and still go into an applebees (or a mcdonalds or burger king)

McDonalds or Burger King I can go into with my weapon on, the safest place to store a weapon is on my person not in my car. To legally store the weapon in a vehicle you must have it in a locked case or compartment. My Chevy Colorado does not have a locking glove box or center console so then I have to carry around a gun case in my truck. No thanks.
