This year there will be a drop box at Gene’s IGA and at Woods here in Fort Scott.

Toys For Tots asks that you give a ten dollar toy. With all of the sales and specials going on right now you can most likely find a ten dollar toy for half that cost. Walgreens is having sales on their toys of $9.99 @ 50% off if you are not wanting to spend much but would like to give.

Need to reach me for more details or questions you can message The Logical Mind on Facebook by searching the name or going to www.facebook.com/logicalmind35

It’s a good cause and a good feeling to know that your gift will be bringing a bit of happiness to another child who doesn’t have much.

Will donated toys be distributed locally? Only in Fort Scott or throughout Bourbon county?

If you are going to donate to this cause at least be kind enough to donate quality items that would be good enough for your own family. I have noticed some really low quality stuff in some of those boxes in the past. It would be better not to donate at all than to pass off some cheap toy that no kid would want. Yes, I sound harsh but that's because I have seen first hand the hurt in a child's eyes when they tear open one of those gifts and it's a piece of junk. It hurts a child to feel like they aren't worth getting something at least half way nice. Sure, they aren't from a wealthy family that can fully do for themselves but that is not the child's fault. Please, give them what your child would be happy with. No more and no less.

Thank you for this information. I want to donate if it stays local and I hope many give generously. I see so many families in need right here in our own communities. The federal government is trying to cut spending in our safety-net programs and our Governor Brownback is cutting funding in all assistance programs for the needy and unemployed. It has become more and more important for those of us who claim to follow Jesus Christ's example to help our neighbors, relatives and friends. And please keep it up after the holidays, too. Children very near to us are hungry every day of the year. P.S. God Bless our local school! Food is sent home on Friday with children who will have little to eat until school resumes on Monday. God Bless your organization and all organizations that try to help the less fortunate among us!
