I wish. Ew's has crazy prices. Coffee and laundry detergent @ ew's is like 3 dollars higher than @ walmart The only thing to go there for is the meat.

Let's hope that this rumor is true. Kroger has an employee union...benefits and possibility of raises. Rumors are that EW James has a pay freeze for the next 3 years. There is little chance of promotions and very few employees receive a benefit package. No paid vacations and in the near future, part time employees will only be able to work less than 30 hours. The Obama Deal has ruined small businesses and made it hard for their employees.

People have been there for 3 and 4 years and still making minimum wage. They only have a few good employees there anyway and Kroger is much cheaper. It would be smarter all the way around.

is it true that teenage workers under the age of 18 make less than minimum wage? my niece was going to work for them but was warned that she would only be making a little over $5 an hour for the first 90 days. i thought all businesses had to pay minimum wage?
law

yes Tennessee state law allows for a training wage for any employee under the age of 20 at a rate of $4.25 a hour for the first 90 days. This is normally only done for those still in High school or under the age of 18.

That will be fine with me. EW's is too high and has horrible selection.

Whatever happens, let's hope there will always be a competitive store around. Can you imagine what the prices at Walmart would (or will be) like if they were the only store here?? They would have a monopoly and would figure that people will pay the exorbitant prices rather than drive elsewhere for their food products.

Competition is the only thing that keeps prices at least a little bit reasonable.

You have that exactly correct. Wal-Mart is not known as the evil empire for no reason. In picture it as a store with every box white & blue, labeled great value. Society of sheep. They already hold us hostage for running many department, clothing stores, and yes, groceries out of business.

Don't know about selling out to Kroger but they sold the pharmacy to Walgreens and didn't tell their pharmacy employees until the day before they closed their doors.
