It depends on if you have children and marital assets. The more factors, the higher. If you and your spouse have agreed on such items it may be a breeze. However, if you have children, custody, a parenting plan and classes, a support amount... If your spouse is contesting....you have to raise those fees.

Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, and Oklahoma - states traditionally known for their conservatism - are experiencing divorce rates between 11 and 13.5 divorces per 1,000 for both men and women.

Divorce is for weak people that are not strong enough to work at a marriage.

When have tried to work on your marriage and can't seem to really honestly be in love with that person. It's time to be honest do what is right and get a divorce. Some people are just fooling themselves.

Around here, you can get an uncontested divorce with no kids for around $500 in attorney fees. Uncontested with kids won't be much more.

A contested divorce will be billed by the hour. Depending on how much property you have and whether or not you have kids, your retainer should be anywhere from $1,500 on up to $5,000 or so.(Normally it wouldn't be more than a few thousand.)

Work on a marriage that is obviously over.
I have cheated and am not in love with my spouse no one or nothing can change my mind i am doing what i should have done years ago.
Life is to short to work on something that is a waste of time.

You heard wrong. TN is actually one of the easiest as far as waiting time and cost. Three months uncontested compared to having a waiting period of one whole year in some states. But if anybody tries to tell you it can be done for less than $800 then they are either lying or they haven't divorced recently.

this is not true. It can be done for less than 800. I got an uncontested divorce, with children, for $680. but I had to go to Trenton to do it, and it was filed in Madison county. filed in February, Divorce final in May.

My divorce cost me double what my lawyer said the fee was. My spouse amd I agreed on everything in mediation and it should've been settled quickly, but wasn't. It should've been settled less expensively, but wasn't. It's still not over! My divorce has been final for almost a year, but all the paperwork isn't in yet! I got screwed royally, and it sure wasn't because we had a lot riding on our divorce. Our children are grown -- I mean hell-fire, we weren't the Rockefellers, for pete's sake.

You are SO wrong about what you posted on here! It's NOT the cheapest OR easiest place to get a divorce. Our children were grown and we didn't have a lot of marital property involved. I filed in April 2010 and my divorce wasn't final until March 2011 and here it is October 2012 and all the paperwork still isn't finished. So please, don't tell people they're WRONG when someone tells them it's difficult to get a divorce in this area -- it IS difficult.

I was married for 9 years, we had a house, no kids, two vehicles. Our divorce was over along with paper work in just 2 months in Henry County. Looks like you got screwed.

Don't blame the courts because you didn't have all your paperwork done. That is the fault of you and your lawyer.
