Was at the board meeting and it was a joke. All the board members are nothing but puppets on a string that the joke of a superintendent has on strings. Think its time we take our schools back and vote out the board at the next election. The board should be firing the ones that dont do the job they were hired for and leave the hard working teachers alone but they cant do that because the ones being moved or fired will not be there puppets and will not bow down to them.

The American school system (public, private, and "Christian") is dangerous. Combine this with the television and you will understand why the children are turning out deficient and full of problems--physical, mental, and spiritual. There are reasons the school system is failing and turning out sots (dull heads), rebels, whoremongers, and freaks--it is by design. Americans were once a strong, independent, rugged, innovative, productive, freedom-loving people. But now look, we are at the bottom of the barrel dependent on someone else for every morsel of food that we eat--let the grocery stores close down and see what happens across this land. Through "progressive" education (progressing toward what?) we have been turned inside out. Americans were in an uproar when the progressives first tried to implement compulsory schooling at the turn of the twentieth century. But now look. We kick our children out the door at five years old (and earlier if Mother works) into "kindergarten". Christians did not belong in the school system in the first place (Deuteronomy 6:6-9)--may the true disciples bail out of that sinking ship and exchange it for a sanctified homeschool under a Biblical Scholarship.

Terry Pike as supervisor of anything. If that's not the biggest joke of all time.

The truth has came out about the swap in principals. It appears that Mr. Huss' wife is an employ of the county school system and works at Black Oak. Just found out that her and Ms. Stone had and disagreement and the next thing to happen is she is being moved to Lake Road. My question to Huss and the board. Allowing Mr. Huss' wife to be employed with the school system does it create a conflict of intrest? I personally think that if you serve on school board or "ACT" as the director of schools then your family should not be employed with the school system expecially your wife. Something for the people of Obion County to think about come election time.

I think he's trying to get fired. Think about it. He just signed a four year contract. If the fire him before it's up, they still have to pay him. Meanwhile, he could go get another job and make the salary for it and the salary from the contract. Just a theory. I am not alone in thinking this, though...

The Director of Schools answers to the school board. The school board answers to the voters.

The Director of Schools is insulated from the voters by having the school board as a buffer.

Talk to your school board member. The school board must agree or disagree with each decision of the Director.

Compulsory attendance should be abolished in the US after age 12. Education should be a privilege and not a right. Think about how much would be accomplished without dead weight in the classroom.

Wondering why even Japan, Singapore, Germany, China and India have superior schools to ours? The children are too busy busting their tails to pass the tests at the end of 7th grade which determine their ultimate educational route: College preparatory or vocational. The competition is too intense for behavioral issues.

In the meantime, home school or send your children to a private school. Private school is worth the drive and the money. The benefits last a lifetime.

Vote with your feet.

Truth.::.. You are mistaken. There was no falling out between Ms Stone and Ms Huss. Lake road has become a target school meaning their test scores are low and they need firmer guidance by a Principal. Ms Stone is a very nice woman but is also very involved and firm. I have also heard nothing but nice things about Mr B. Rumor has it Ms Huss is moving to another school also. she is an excellant teacher and the schools acquiring them will be lucky to have them. I hope all schools with the teacher and principal switches will be kind and gracious and accepting to the new employees in the fall. We are OC!! Let's quit bickering and pointing fingers laced with blame. Stand together and see how this plays out.

the real reason for the "shack up"is that Huss and his posse of head hunters sold the school board on a program called Balance Literacy. The program does not work and school board knows it Vicky Stephson told the board they need 1 more year.It will not work so teacher with 20+years were moved to other schools to give a reason why next year when the scores are down it will because of the change.
Huss and all his head hunter need to go.Everyone can talk about it but we need to do something about Huss and his band of POWER HUNGRY followers.

Rodgers and Huss didn't even attend graduation. They have standards for others and don't budge, but do as they please. Oh I know, they went to their kids graduation but they should have planned better. Inexcuseable not to be at OC graduation.

Huss went to his son's substate baseball game. 4 board members told him that he could not go, but he got to go anyways. I guess board member rules only apply to the peons of the school system. Wonder when the board members are going to realize that Huss does not walk on water? This whole balanced literacy thing is just an excuse to frustrate tenured, older teachers into an early retirement so that more nepostism can exist in the newly hired replacements. When is the county going to stop being the laughing stock of Tennessee?
