God help you members of 2nd Baptist church who are gossiping about your own church. Tell the pastor privately if you have a problem with it. That's the Biblical way to deal with conflict. I am also a member but who hasn't gone to Honduras. You should be ashamed of yourselves for talking about the pastor or his children/spouses. That is not right either. The people who help outside our country or outside our state also HAVE BEEN HELPING IN UNION CITY/OBION COUNTY by countless donations of money, goods, and services to the needy. You people are trouble makers, and we don't need your opinions to be shown to the whole community. You are only embarrassing yourselves.

There are people in our area that doesnt get help from the government, so help them instead going over there. Some of yall dont even pay your own way to go, the church sells boston butts and everything else, I know for a fact the church pays some of yalls way to go. Think about it.
you missed the announcement that one of the leaders on the trip made, obviously; none of the church's budget was used. Mind your own business and quit gossiping about a church and their business.

Yes, I agree that there are local missions here that need to be done, but God says we should do missions everyehere! Everyone is called to do something different with their life. Some local missions. Some foreign missions. Some evangelism. And so many more things! The only reason you hear about Honduras a lot is because the people who are foreign mission minded are actually getting out and doing what they are called to do. I am sure if you feel led to start a local mission team, some people of the church would gladly help you get it kicked off! And many of the men who go to Honduras are also members of Brotherhood, which does local work. If you have a heart for missions, once you go to Honduras, you fall in love with it: the people, the mountains, the missions. EVERYTHING! I went to Honduras for the first time January 2012. I felt so in the middle of God's calling on my life. I knew I had to go back! So I did. I am so glad that most of the people in my church were supportive of my decision. We are all called to be the hands and feet of The Lord. If your job is to be the hands, and I am supposed to be the feet, we are called to do two completely different tasks, right? You may be doing your job here locally, whereas I am being the feet and spreading God's word unto all the nations of this world! Acts 1:8 - "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem (Union City), and in all Judea (America), and Samaria (North America), and unto the uttermost part of the Earth (Honduras, Africa, wherever you feel led)." Am I doing it wrong because I am working in a foreign country? No. Two totally different jobs. BOTH in the will of God! And Honduras was nothing like a vacation. I couldn't brush my teeth with their water. I had to use bottled water. I hiked 5 hours up a mountain during a rain storm. I spent a day in a trash dump with people that live and raise their children there. I slept on a tile floor. Wasn't exactly a place where most people plan on spending their vacation. But it was such a blessing and I think about it everyday and can't wait to return! Nobody should be judged or discouraged for where they choose to serve The Lord and bring glory to His name! 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 - "There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of sevice, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work." Just keep this in mind and do your best to follow His plan for your life!

Just yesterday, I drove by a house on Jackson St. and saw a number of our men working on at a house. They are always putting in ramps for people who need them for various reasons. These people do not have to be a member of 2nd for them to do this. If there is a need they are there to help. The pastor and staff are the same. If you are in need of prayer or a visit, just call one of them. They will be there for you. I personally invite anyone to come with the attitude of worship, not just to see who is there and what they are doing or wearing, and see what God can do through you. We should be praying instead of gossiping. And yes, they go to Honduras and other countries, but they also go where tornadoes and other diasters happen here in the US. Most all mission trips are funded by those that go.

Wrong. It is budgeted monthly from the offering. Churches are commonly destroyed from the inside. Way to go.

I go to 2nd... I know that God is working in our members! It may not be in all our members but; why should we let the complaints get to us?

The Budget for Hondorus - 98% of that is donated by Church members who have GONE! I have not been myself, but would one day like to go... The work that is done, jobs, sharing the gospel; the same is done over here! We have people going to several different countries and we have more people working in and around our own area! Being involved in the Church is a good way to see that!

I can't understand why so many people want to complain and gossip about who is sitting by who, how someones hair looks, where someone goes etc.

God is working in us and clearly the devil in others! After reading some of this stuff I have one thing and one thing alone to stay; If our missions here and outside of this country bother you leave the Church! If all you can think to do after a service is Gossip about someone else LEAVE OUR CHURCH! This is GOD'S house not yours and MY GOD WILL DO WONDERS WITH OR WITHOUT YOU!!! FROM OUR CHILDREN TO OUR SENIORS, GOD IS AT WORK! GET INVOLVED, STOP COMPLAINING OR LEAVE OUR CHURCH!

We are all God's Children, I can fogive, but if all you have to offer is complaining and gossip you need to fall to your knees and PRAY! Get right with the Lord and give him everything! Come up during the invitational and pray!!!! I will pray with you and for you - get your heart right and love our church again!

God Bless y'all and our Church, our famlies and friends, our leaders, and followers. Lord Jesus, be with those wicked and warn, light their fire and help them love you again, love our church get help them get involved Lord Jesus. All praise goes to you with help on famlies, making meals for others who can not afford, buying famlies clothes and leaving it on their door step, Lord all the way to our out of country mission trips! May all Glory be given to you Lord Jesus and you alone, warm the hearts of our members and reach out your hand, to heal us of any doubts we may have! lord Jesus please heal the sick, and help us all listen for our own calling! Thank you Lord Jesus for all you have blessed us with Lord Jesus and for the blessings yet to come. In your precious holy name I pray, AMEN
