whats all this talk about the churches having combined services? i assume this has something to do with goodyear and dropping membership. didn't know things had got this bad. lord help us. where is he when you need him?

times like these make me think of my favorite verse. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

sure everyone feels the same.

That is what happens when you listen to false doctrine. It is a matter of time before it all comes crumbling down.

Baptist period is false doctrine!!

When the bible says that God will take care of his that doesn't mean that he will take care of you just cause you pretend you are his! He will take care of his but only if you truly seek God. You can't seek God if you don't pick up that bible and read it yourself. If you read the bible then you wouldn't ever attend a church that teaches that you do not have to be baptized for remission of sins just as Jesus was to go to heaven.

Matthew 7:21-23

21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity

Blunt but very true!

Read the bible and find out there is only 1 truth!!!!!!!!!

I haven't heard of any of this! I do love to go there to hears Gods Word. Bro. Eddie is a great preacher. I like my Sunday School class and the people I feel very comfortable there. They truly feel like my family. God will take care of his children during these hard times if you truly believe in him. Keep up the good work Bro. Eddie. You are a true man of God!!!!!!!!!

The scriptures I posted totally contradicts what baptist teach!

You telling me that it is ok to attend a church where they teach things other than what the bible says?

Tell that to God on judgement and see if he lets you in the gate! My bet is that he has already answered that question with his words in the bible, it is just a sad shame people are to lazy to read them themselves!

My God says rebuke false doctrine!

How much money is wasted in Union City on just having different Baptist churches. If the people would get over themselves and see all that wasted money could go to Bibles, missionary trips in Tennessee, orphans and widows. I think if all the churches would just be honest with themselves and each other and think what would Jesus say about the wasted money spent on having different buildings to worship in. The differences even between methodist and baptist and church of Christ are so trivial....

Either you do as the bible says or you don't! Either you teach what the bible says or you don't! Teaching people they do not have to be baptized to go to heaven is WRONG!

Though since there is no difference maybe baptist should share a building with satan worshipers. Any church who misleads followers is no better than a group of devil worshipers!

You want to know why church of christ has the reputation of believing they are the only ones going to heaven?

I will tell you why, it is about the baptism. No other denomination baptizes for remission of sins. Jesus was perfect in every aspect. A man that went without even a bad thought. HE WAS PERFECT! One thing though he was still baptized to fulfill all righteousness.

Matthew 3:13-17

13Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. 14But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? 15And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. 16And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

If there is no need to be baptized to go to heaven then why in the above verses did Jesus say to fulfill all righteousness?

Church of christ believe that you must be baptized in order to go to heaven. Simple! Baptist believe that you baptize into the church that it has nothing to do with the remission of sins, because of the thief on the cross. Though everyone is so quick to think of the thief they forget who the thief was on the cross with!

A perfect man that had no sin including no foul thought died on the cross so that you and I could have the gift of remission of sins through our baptism. Are you telling me that all of this perfect mans suffering was in vain?

There are many scriptures concerning this matter.

Read the entire chapter of matthew 24 for starters.

There is also a parable but at this moment I am unable to find it. It talks about the one that had the opportunity to obey and he rejected it. Then one day he laid in the field and knew that he was about to die and no one was around, and when he died there was no pity for him.

The gospel says to be ready to be prepared because we do not know when the hour approaches. If you had an opportunity to obey the gospel and you rejected it as you are trying to mock me now. Then you are found in a grave situation and you couldn't obey the gospel. I am sorry but there will be no pity for you. Your soul will be lost!

My God says rebuke false doctrine!
Luke 39-43: 39 One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him, saying, "Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us!" 40 But the other answered, and rebuking him said, "Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? 41 "And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong." 42 And he was saying, "Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!" 43 And He said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise." the thief on the cross went to heaven by Jesus's grace and was not baptized.

This was also before jesus died and before jesus was risen.

Jesus while he walked on this earth as you and I do had the authority to forgive. The thief was forgiven before the law. There would be no law without Jesus's death. So yes the thief went to heaven but that was during the old law where we also had priest and high priest.

Here is another one for sara.

Matthew 25:1-13

1Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. 2And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: 4But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. 6And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. 7Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. 8And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. 9But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. 10And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. 11Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. 12But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. 13Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Also guest can you provide a verse that says the thief was not baptized?

To be honest none of us know for sure if he was or not, but I do know that Jesus while he walked this earth had the power to forgive.

Typical Church of Christ rhetoric! I'm going to Heaven because I believe in Jesus, John 3:16, I am a Baptist and I have been baptized. If you are a true believer I will be in Heaven with you, this always makes C O C mad because they don't like to share.
