more information about titan:
The Titan Tire Corporation was formed in 1993 by Maurice M. Taylor Jr., the then owner of Titan Wheel, when Titan purchased the Dyneer Corporation, which manufactured various off-road tires. Titan is the third largest manufacturer of off-road tires in North America.[1] They continued expanding their product offering and reach by purchasing the off-road tire assets of Pirelli Armstrong Tire Corporation in 1994. The Titan Tire Corporation was split off as a subsidiary of Titan International (NYSE: TWI) in 1997.[2]

The assets of Fidelity Tire, based in Natchez, Mississippi, was purchased from Bankruptcy Court in 1998, and the company refocused with the sale of its golf-cart, ATV and lawn and garden tires and facilities in Clinton, Tennessee, and Slinger, Wisconsin to the Carlisle Tire & Wheel Company in 2000.[3]

In 2005, Titan purchased the farm tire business of Goodyear, and continues manufacturing Goodyear agricultural tires under license. This acquisition included the plant in Freeport, Illinois. Titan again expanded in 2006 with the purchase of Continental AG's off-the-road (OTR) tire assets in Bryan, Ohio.[4]

In 2010, Titan purchased the assets of Leavittsburg, Ohio based Denman Tire in bankruptcy court for US$4.4 million.[5] This purchase includes the consumer-related tires (on-road) as well, which Titan is considering to divest.[6][7]

Titan announced that they have purchased the assets of Goodyear's Latin American off-road tire business for US$98.6 million. This includes the plant in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and a licensing agreement that allows Titan to continue manufacturing under the Goodyear brand, similar to its 2005 purchase of Goodyear's US farm tire assets.[8][9]

Titan has manufactured tires for Caterpillar under the Caterpillar brand since 1999.[10] OEM customers include John Deere, AGCO, Case IH/Case Construction, New Holland, Caterpillar and Kubota.[

but he is correct this time.....where does it say that they are going to open up the union city plant and start building again..there...no where....just another person trying to get comments and hopes up, someone wanting to keep a thread going so he can put his or her 10 cents in, not everyone here worked for goodyear. I have lived here all my life and have a good steady job. I have never worked for goodyear and never wanted to, hell, I hate getting that dirty, I don't care what they pay, just being honest, but I did have family and friends that did work out there. not all of them bragged about what they had. they worked hard, very hard. they did not have their noses up in the air or put on airs either. not every employee was that way. I hate seeing my town going through this as I would hate to see any other town go through this. ICU may say some things wrong but it is his opinion and his way of letting everyone know how he feels about goodyear, unions and people. but I don't think he would start shyt about a false buying of a plant when so many here are hurting, so ICU for once I have to have your back and I have your back on this one.

If you would like to see the reason why there are a lot of people on here from goodyear who has a bad attitude then go back a month or two and read icus posts about how everyone who worked there are drug addicts and how everyone who worked there will be broke and selling everything they own and pimping out thier wives. These comments were from icu and a few others. So ofcourse there is some animosity from people who arent in that situation and wanted to set icu straight. Albeit there are some who do have thier noses stuck up in the air and think they are better then others. But for the most part they are good people that are just tired of reading icus idiotic posts and his lies about people he doesnt even know. So, before you start patting icu on the back you should have all the facts. Go back and read the threads involving goodyear from say 60 days ago till now and you'll understand. Icu is just a bitter little man who probally hates everyone. Anyway, he lost his job at goodyear, he was also slapped by a supervisor there. Now that could be handeled 2 ways. One could either be a man, stand up for himself and get a warrant for assault or go home crying about getting slapped. The latter is what he did and he holds everyone at goodyear at fault for his short commings. Me, personaly, if i had been slapped by a supervisor, i would probally still be in jail for what I would have done to him. I'm not saying that would be the right thing to do i am just saying that anyone that puts thier hands on me would pay dearly.Have a great day.

If, and thats a bif if, Titan has bought the plant it will be teaching you union folks some real lessons. Titan locked out the USWers at other plants over the Chrismas holidays last year, then later opened the dors for workers to come back under Titans offers or be replaced. Titan International doesn't put up with your union's bs which means you would pay dues, but the company calls the shots

Ha! I guess just like when you thought you could call the shot and ole Wayman slapped a gallon of wax out of those giant ears of yours, huh Ed?You only wish you had union protection back then and you might not have been shipped off to Buffalo. For the best anyway ,because i doubt they could help slime wads such as yourself. Agree Ed?

If Titan was to buy the plant it would be all over the news and I don't see a word. Deed transfer or some papers have to be filed with the county, and none have.

So who bought it? Titan or Cooper? Another post said Goodyear would reopen it as a warehouse.
Personally I heard that Williams Sausage was buying it to grind old tireworkers on work comp into sausages once

If you knew half what you think you do you would know thats the way goodyear was with the USW. That union is not a real union. Now if URW was still round here we would still be in there rollin tires out wit no probs. Waggoner got in goodyears pocket and that peice of sh*t along with goodyear execs shut that plant down

The URW was kicked out of existance by the Japanese tiremaker Bridgestone when it finally had enough of the incessant demands of greedy impractical union types. You should have learned from that exercise that there plenty of people willing and able to work and could care less about your silly little picket lines. Your URW was beaten. Get with the program

Once again, you don't have a clue. Bridgestone had nothing to do with the URW merging with the USW. Besides, Bridgestone LOST in court & has to hire back locked out workers & pay them back pay.
