Just needing words of encouragement. My husband and I barely sqwueek by. Nearly half of his check is consumed in child support and I make minimum wage and we both do all we can for our kids. My mom tells me to just buy for my child and let my step kids mom buy for them with the cs money. But we want to get them something. It's very hard to live off of a combined net income of $1,500 a month and pay house rent, utilities, buy groceries, gas, etc. I just don't know what to do. We want to get them all something nice but looks like we will be ending up with some dollar store toys :( I hate being poor!

Everyone is having hard times. People seem to forget that kids need more than toys. Showing them love doesn't cost a thing. Toys may be nice but what do most kids do with them? Play with them for a few moments and then they are forgotten. Be creative and do something that doesn't cost so much. In the end, we still need a roof over our heads.

Find a family in worse condition than yours and take your family over to their house with $30 worth of groceries. Take all the kids inside for a short visit. They will get Perspective and Gratitude for Christmas.

Merry Christ Mass.

Work two jobs and get rid of tv and internet for starters. You don't know what poverty is. You just think you do.

I'm sorry to say this, but it's about to get much, much worse.

Gasoline will become so high you will not be able to drive. And that's even if you can find gasoline. Same for food. Already, our coal-fired power plants are being shuttered in the name of Global Warming. Cheap electricity will soon be a thing of the past.

I've been where you are. I've been busted flat. I always knew it would get better, and it did. What I see coming, however, is troubling.

Enjoy what you have now, while you still have it. And certainly don't spend what you don't have. Enjoy your spouse and your kids.

I don't have tv or internet. I use the net at work. So I have already cut that corner.

I don't have it either. So we do not have that expense either. We watch dvds over and over lol. I also use the internet and the computer at work. We don't even have a computer in our house. So I too have already cut that corner trying to make it. I'm not asking for handouts. Just words of encouragement. That's all.

Thank you for the advice. I know, I feel worse days coming over the horizon too. I do love my husband and kids very much and we do lots of things with them for free like go to the lake, the park, etc. We go for walks and have board game nights. Last night it dawned on me to let them makes something and take it to the residents at the nursing home. I also would like to get some of the neighborhood kids together and go Christmas carolling. I prayed a lot about it last night and I'm gonna do the best I can for them.

Stop whining and thinking about material things. Count your blessings and remember the real meaning of Christmas. Some people don't even Internet so you must be doing pretty well.

Did you not just read that I use the internet at work and there is no computer or internet in my house. We also do not have cable. But no you didn't get past the first post and then just passed judgement. I asked for words of encouragement, not handouts. I would not consider that whining. I consider that asking other people who are in or have been in the same boat to please give advice, etc. Did you also not read that I prayed about it last night and decided on some things to do for others with my children and that I will do the best I can for them? No, you didn't read that either, huh?

Sorry you are having a hard time. I have been there and done that but some how I have always managed to get my kids Christmas, but only by the grace of God. You could check into some of the community and church organizations, alot of them take kids shopping for Christmas, donate toys, etc. The main problem with our country is that people no longer care about each other or can empathize with others. People are so quick to judge and run their mouth. Wishing you all a Happy Merry Christmas!

Don't worry about these people saying mean stuff dear. Just know there are people who understand. I certainly do. Sadly, I used to be one of those people who talked about others who struggled. Even called them lazy. But now I have learned a lesson in humility that it seems so many others need to learn. The encouraging words I can offer you are just to keep your head up, do what ever and how ever much you can for your kids. You are a good person for caring so much. I also think doing something for the residents of a nursing home and singing Christmas Carols is a great idea. Helping others is THE BEST gift you can give your children. That along with love. Don't feel bad if you can't get them much material wise. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas.

People that have litters of kids need to stop complaining and blaming everyone else because they're poor! This is just getting old. Use some damn birth control or shut up!

You should have realized this day would come when you Goodearites ran all of your and others jobs out of town. Now be a big girl, suck up your pride and go over and get a job at one of the strip joints as I predicted would happen
I hear the Mexicans are big tippers on payday nights at Williams sausage and with enough tequla they always overlook some extra poundage and a stretch mark or two

All you ppl being ugly on here need to realize this could be you. You probably don't have to worry about your kids Christmas and think no body else needs to or has a right to. All you people being ugly I hope you are put in that position just so you can see how it is.
