If idiots weren't buying 5000 rounds at a time, there would be a few for others to buy.

I've been to different stores in different towns and everyone is out of it. It's not the only type of ammo either. People want to blame Obama for everything. I hate everything Obama has done, just not sure how much of the blame can be put on him for this. His ideas have scared people into buying up all the ammo that they can. "Preppers" are buying up more ammo than they'll ever need. Then they are the ones complaining about it being sold out everywhere. These people are worried about the prices going up so they are buying all they can now. You know what will make the price go up? Demand. Since there is less ammo out there now, due to people stockpiling it, the price will go up. Congratulations, you just raised the price of the ammo yourselves.

Don't be mad that you had to save your allowance up to start your stockpile. Yes we are absolutely buying it up, and not because we are "prepping" but though it's our constitutional right to bear arms, it's NOT our right to get it without a hugely inflated government mandated tax on it. Do I believe the government will walk into people's homes and take their firearms? No... But I do believe they will tax the ammunition to the point where the average citizen won't be able to afford it

As of now, there is the regular sales tax on ammo, which is the same as anything else that you would buy. Along with the HUGE 10 cents a box tax that Tennessee puts on ammo sales, not the federal government. Yeah, taxes are really driving those prices up.

Which is EXACTLY why we are buying it NOW Instead of waiting for that moment to come

Supply and Demand people. High supply and low demand, keep prices low. Low supply and High demand, raises prices. You should have learned this probably in the seventh grade, that's this many, 7.

When this country is in it's 2nd Great Depression, and your begging to eat, and we're not only killing our own rations, but using surplus ammo as barter for services outside of our specialy... Let us know how that supply and demand is workin for you

I threw away my NRA card and I did not renew. My membership expired today.

I am also leaving the GOP.

Why? The GOP and the NRA left me. I didn't leave them.

The NRA has become an organization not worthy of true gun owners who respect the weapons they keep in their charge. The NRA has become a bad union and a misleading lobby group. They use your money to protect gun manufacturers and could care less what you do or think.

Can we just cut through the BS? This is not the NRA fighting about Second Amendment rights. The NRA is becoming more and more irrelevant no matter if they get a million more members this year. That only means a million more misguided souls will spend money for a gun union to spend money on candidates who don't win. Have at it. Fact. Not one major candidate the NRA supported in 2012 won. Not one. The world has turned and it is not coming back. Thank God for that.

The NRA needs their faced slammed into the ground for fear-mongering for profits in the wake of the Newtown shooting. Justice Scalia clearly laid out in Heller what Second Amendements were and what they were not. The most conservative justice on the Supreme Court, Justice Scalia, made it very clear. He stated that assault weapons are not protected by the Second Amendment. Read it. Look it up. It is not debatable. He said it.

The NRA instead is protecting themselves and their wealthy gun manufacturers. They are lying to their members about threats to the Second Amendment. There is a portion of the American public that we can refer to as survivalists, ignorant militia types. They don't belong in the NRA, yet they are prevalent in that cesspool today. These people need to take their meds. The government is not coming to harm your chickens and your wives. Only those who are fearful of circling black helicopters and stockpiling guns and ammo in the basement truly believe gun rights and the Second Amendment are in danger. Quite frankly, nobody else really gives a shlt.

This is about gun manufacturers making millions and millions and millions of dollars. This is about retailers making millions and millions and millions of dollars. Do you know how much money these people have made over the slaughter of 20 innocent children in Newtown? Do you know how much richer these rich gun manufacturers have gotten over the past month, and how the NRA uses that tragedy to gin up fears, and websites use that tragedy to gin up fears that they’re coming to take your guns away? Hey, they can’t take your guns away. We have something called the Second Amendment in the Constitution of the United States. Justice Scalia said in 2009 they can’t come and take your guns away. You can have a handgun to protect your family. But after that, anything goes and yes, they can regulate guns. Scalia said it. Not me.

The bottom line is, if you're a survivalist type mental whackjob, and you actually believe the federal "gubment" is coming after you to kill you and your children, if that really is your paranoid, sick, twisted view in 2013, well fine. Good luck to you, and continue to gather up other twisted Republicans and NRA members in your pickup truck and drive right off the political cliff right into oblivion. That is where you're headed.

Supporting an NRA that spends most of their time and dollars fighting for the rights of gun manufacturers instead of the rights of sensible gun owners will be terrible for Republicans. If we’re going to fight against all these common sense gun measures, then we are a Republican party that’s headed for extinction.

Simple common sense goes a long way and that is what the GOP has lost with the turds running it today. Ronald Reagan would truly be ashamed of the party today and what the freaks even in the middle of the party have now become.

Well I just got 1000 rounds of 22LR so I can hunt and shoot my 22LR for some time to come cheaper than if I buy 22LR rounds as I need them. I also am buy other ammo that fits the guns I own so I will not have to pay the higher prices when I run out later.

Many of us squared away our beans, bullets and Band-Aids when BO was elected the first time. Since that time, the dollar has lost half its value, buying fewer and fewer of these items with each passing day.

And now, watch for Executive Orders infringing upon the people's right to keep and bear arms.

You're quickly running out of time.

Try are buying up all kinds of ammo and guns because they don't trust Obama. One of te biggest reasons to buy the 22lr is because you can't reload that kind of ammo. Anyone that is smart doesn't plan on buying new ammo under the higher prices anyways. The .223 bullets are hard to reload also. Duuuuuuuuhhhhhh.

Mr. Ed you stated
"The NRA needs their faced slammed into the ground for fear-mongering for profits in the wake of the Newtown shooting. He said it."

I did look it up he said
"It may be objected that if weapons that are most useful in military service—M-16 rifles and the like—may be banned, then the Second Amendment right is completely detached from the prefatory clause. But as we have said, the conception of the militia at the time of the Second Amendment’s ratification was the body of all citizens
capable of military service, who would bring the sorts of lawful weapons that they possessed at home to militia duty. It may well be true today that a militia, to be as effective as militias in the 18th century, would require sophisticated arms that are highly unusual in society at large. Indeed, it may be true that no amount of small arms could be useful against modern-day bombers andtanks. But the fact that modern developments have limited the degree of fit between the prefatory clause and the protected right cannot change our interpretation of the right."

He did not say "assault weapons were not protected by the second amendment".
