It has been several years since I've been there, but it sure was a very fine church then. I have several family members who still attend there, and they have great things to say about Calvary Baptist.

I do apologize that I couldn't be of more help; however, maybe what I've said is at least a little bit of help. I personally don't think you will be disappointed there, but most importantly, attend where you feel you are supposed to be (where God wants you), which is a Scriptural based church that truly assists folks in becoming disciples of Christ.

Try a different one every week til you are lead to the place where your supposed to be. Don't listen to rumors and suggestions by people but listen to your heart led by the Holy Spirit through thoughtful prayer. And look at it kinda like looking for a great restaurant but instead of food you are looking for a place to get full of the bread of life and a place to learn the true word of God.

What I would like to know is if there is a church in this area who doesn't mix politics with the teachings of the church. I do not want to hear politcs preached when I go to church, and I do believe in separation of church and state. If a preacher wants to be involved in politics, he should run for office and quit preaching. If he wants to preach, he should stick to preaching and leave his "opinions" on politics outside the realm of his occupation. He is working for a non-profit org. Some of them are using the pulpit as if it were an opportunity to raise votes for their preferred candidate, whom they believe is "ordained" by God almighty.

Good question! I personally don't know as I haven't been around your neck of the woods in a few years now. But I will say that the evangelical community does need a man of God leading the members of a church in making wise decisions that directly affect the society and community we live in by focusing on the discernment of politicians who represent Godly principles. Perhaps it has now gotten so bad (as far as the integrity of candidates go) that many in the church feel compelled to mention those with whom she (the church) feel are not possessing the same values as Christ taught.

Sad to say, that nowadays most all politician are concerned more-so with money and control/power, not liberty and justice for all. I am of the opinion we should not expect horses to crow or dandelions to taste like steak. Therefore, if we have an highly developed man of God who understands such things, it can only serve to help sway the country back to Godly principles by electing those with Godly values and integrity.

I used to whole-heartedly agree with you that the church was no place for such activity; however, it sure seems as though times have surely gotten worse and worse in these regards and such interchanges now make perfect sense (but it should be monitored VERY closely by the church members to assure it doesn't get out of hand in representing values that Christ taught).

Good post, thank you!

Politics should be centered on the social and economic issues of our country. The churches are for our spiritual issues and to help us become educated in bibical teachings. They help us to teach our children how to live and become good citizens. The government has never and shouldn't become so "religious" in which it's leaders intend to force their own personal beliefs on all citizens. There is a movement in our country now which is out to control the country with their religious beliefs, by using hate mongering, and vivious lies in order to do so. This should not be the attributes of a Christian. Some of them are even saying you are not a Christian if you aren't on their side and voting as they say you should vote. There is good and bad in both political parties. There isn't a party who can claim they are God's party. This is causing me to become uninterested in going to the churches of this area, until I can find one who accepts people for who they are and not who they believe they should be.They are discriminating against individuals who "won't drink the "kool aid".

Marriages have been destroyed from members "hooking up" there too! I know of one in particular so I wouldn't be too fast to brag.
