Just got a letter from Regions Bank. New fees!!!

I now get to pay $4.00 for using my debit card. And I get to pay $2.00 for each paper statement I receive.

Thanks, Regions Bank!

You're the best!!!

I have never received such a fee letter from local banks First Citizens or First State. And I have never seen such a fee on their statements.

Regions Bank, a huge interstate banking conglomerate, is the only bank doing business here which is hitting customers with these new fees.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Why would you bank with Regions anyways? They've always been a rip off!

I heard a rumor that this was going to happen starting Oct...I understand ppl have to make money, but they're earning money from what we all keep in their banks so I'm not going to pay fees to get my own money if I can help it...I'll start bank shopping to find a bank other than Regions...

Oh, First State may not gouge you with monthly fees, but something everyone needs to know -- IF anyone EVER sees your Debit Card and gets the number (at checkouts... fast food places... restaurants... clinics... utility companies... your next door neighbor... a stranger on the freakin' street -- ALL they have to do is DEBIT your checking account and the bank will let them HAVE YOUR MONEY.

Even if you close out your account, the bank will still let the transaction go through. I know this because I saw a 'memo' on my account online that said someone was claiming over $100 of my money. I called the bank and they said it wouldn't be taken out until tonight.

I asked if I could close out the account 'right now' and she said it would not stop them from taking that money... and if I pulled my money out of the bank, they would still let it come through -- SO... I would lose my $100+... and the bank would charge me a mini-fortune for an overdraft... plus daily fees until they inform me that my account (my closed OUT account, remember!!) is in arrears.

Now I ask you, would you want a DEBIT CARD under these conditions? I think NOT.

The really BAD part is that I went to the bank to talk to them about this issue BEFORE the fact. She said something about putting a 'red flag alert' on my account. Okay... so I thought I was safe, right? WRONG!!! Totally different story today.

I called and left messages and the person at the bank never did return my call, but when I called again today she'd received my messages... and they let this happen anyway -- against my wishes. I told her it wasn't an authorized charge and she said as long as they had the Debit Card number, they could do anything they wanted. I informed her that they didn't have my PIN and she said they didn't need it, that knowing the number was an 'automatic authorization.'

Let me get this straight -- I have to use my PIN to make a Debit Transaction, but no one else has to use my PIN to take money out of my account?

WTF ?!!

If you're currently in the military, or you're a veteran, bank with USAA. They're great!

I bank at Reelfoot Bank and had a problem like that occur. I called the bank and they put it under investigation and found out it was not me making those debits and returned the money back to my checking account. I would suggest you start banking at Reelfoot.

I haven't heard anything like this from First Citizens. Of course they are alot better than Regions. Regions sucks and their customer service at the Union City Branch by Burger King was the pits about 3 years ago, I can't say what it's like today. I will never walk into that bank again.

I like how the banks round up all the money in your community but wont loan it back out. Isn't that the basic function of the "local" bank.

Well, when they left town with our money and loaned it out in Nashville and Memphis, they got their butts kicked and lost so much they almost closed. But then they got TARP Federal Bailout and they are forgiven.

Now they are in the process of doing it again. What a joke.

By the way, Regions stock is imploding and they are selling off Morgan Keegan brokerage for pennies to try and stay in business. They owe the Feds huge amounts of money.

They won't be around much longer.
