Neighborhood watch is a good project. However when meetings are held, they are held in accordance with the police. Like a leader would be an officer, and the public doesnt show up for meetings. They just all want a change and want to run their gums, about the police and how bad things are , but never want to get involved. People are always like that.If this comminuty wants a change you HAVE to get involved. There is a difference in being concerned and just plain nosey.Just a side note. It doesn't matter what you doand how hard you try, be it law enforcement or in your personal life. You can't and won't make everyone happy.

I know of several officers that are good ones. But I know of a case where JEROME WILLIS hit a young child and the mom was afraid for her safety and h got by with it and she lost her kids, even after CPS and the POLICE could find where she had done NO wrong. I do believe something needs done about UCI PD and CPS. Our children are not safe. Yeah, sometimes things get done by the TEENAGERS and nothings happens.

Usually in a case like that, it's the prosecutor who has dropped the ball and the judge who is in major error. Unfortunately that kind of thing happens a lot and people like that lady who slammed her baby on the sidewalk get to keep their kids...so IDK what happened in the Willis case sorry.

Drama, Yep thats Union City for you. I personaly hate drama but I do agree about the police and half of the town for that matter to an extent, they think they are so much better than everybody else and no I have not had to deal with the police that often but the times I have had to deal with them they are smart asses about everything, get over it or move out of town because half of the town is just like them, thats why I hate people.

Well glad I found this thread because I was considering moving into that area. I am married, both of us with college degrees and we have a baby. The most important things we are looking for in a city is a sense of community and safety. From the looks of it your town is a long ways away from that.... The cheap housing set me off to dig deeper. Now I see why. Hope things change for the better soon for all who live here!

Union City is a great community with a lot of great things going on. There is nowhere you are going to go that doesn't have some negative aspects and unfortunately ours is highly represented here. Some of the best people I have ever met live in Union City, the school is fantastic and the cost of living is hard to beat.

There is far more good in this town than bad, we have had great schools for our kids, many civic groups to be part of, great community projects that you can be part of. Do not let the negativity of topix sway your opinion of our town. Come visit us during State Line Heritage Days and witness a whole community in action, come drive through our park during the Christmas season.

I graduated from UCCHS years ago , so I like to stay in touch with the small town news , etc. I guess the first thing that I need to comment about is the fact that we have people complaining about the police harassing the youth there, has anyone ever thought that maybe , just maybe the police are trying to keep your kids out of trouble . Curfews were put in place a long time ago to create order and to keep kids safe , this is when parents wanted to be parents and didn't let their kids run wild and be out all hours of the night . I was young and like to have fun when I was in school , but looking back on it , I have great comfort in knowing that maybe just maybe this is what a community police officer is hired to do . I know that if I were a parent in todays world , I would be grateful that somene was looking out for my kids and I would be grateful if that child of mine got out of line , the police would straighten them up . If you read the papers or watch the news of what is going on in the world today , kids are being charged with some serious crimes these days . It takes one small mistake to ruin the rest of your life and end up in jail or dead . So , please rethink your anger and or dislike for your police in your small town ! The next time that you see an officer just be respectful and show some graditude for the people that do serve our community . Thank you !

There are much, much better resources out there than the hide behind a screen name and make up what ever you want site!
