Ok here is a new thread .. Positive and creative ideas only please.
Lets see what types of things our citizens would like to see come to our community.
(example)
Clothing store
shoe store
Grocery store
Restraunts
ect.....
Lets put our energy into improving the community and not bashing our neighbors.
Lets see if our city Officials read our ideas and take to heart That we need to move Forward and still keep the small town feel that we have grown to love.

It would be nice if there was a place for the kids to go. Some place for the young and teens. I have wished that I had the money to open a place but the money just hasn't been available.

How about a Taco Bell. A clothing store would be great, I can remember the Boston Store, even had a CATO for a short period of time.

I think new businesses would be wonderful. With fuel prices skyrocketing (could reach $15/gal) people will be more apt to shop locally. However, it will take a concerted and committed effort to accomplish this.
BY the By: Hummels Shoes have really good sales on quality shoes.
I have purchased some great tennis shoes there that didn't cost what a low-quality pair cost at Wal-Mart.

No we are not closing. We are adjusting our hours for the summer months, but we will continue to be open. We are also taking reservations for private parties while we are "closed" during the week. We have already had a couple of birthday parties and family gatherings that were scheduled. Amy, this is how rumors get started. I am sure you meant no harm by asking this question, but you know how rumors get out of control in this area. Please feel free to call us if you ever have any questions about our business establishment.

I know how rumors do get started around here that is why I asked so I could tell people you are not closing. People in this town sure like to gossip and spread rumors alot. I am glad they think it is funny and are talking about me. At least they will leave others alone.

I don't know the owners so I did not call. I knew the owner reads these post. I did not want to know the hours, I had been told they were closing so I wanted to find out if anyone knew. Sorry.I am not starting any crap with anyone I was just interested in knowing the truth, is that a crime, well excuse me. You don't need to swear. Why does it matter if I have been to sidetracks? That is your business how? I just don't want to see another business leave. Is that a problem or are you just wanting to start crap?

I remember the Boston store... I loved that store. I think a clothing store would be great and another shoe store.. I like hummels and have bought many shoes there, Its a great store.
I would love a dinner theater club. they are alot of fun for the family and for adults to have a classy night out.
A place for the kids would be great also .. I grew up here and remember when we had a skating rink. Oh those where the days (showing my age)
I always said if i ever became wealthy i would do my best to improve this town even if it was in a small way. But like most i live from paycheck to paycheck each week.

why would anyone want to open a business in a third generation welfare town? Yes there is good, hard working ppl that live here! But the problem is they are all moving out of town! You will first need to change the mind set of the ppl in this town and then clean it up! Who would want to go up town and deal with all the mexicans! Get rid of them and then do the rest and you might have a chance.

By the looks of this Topix for UC. It looks like the adults need something to do as well.

I miss the doughnut shop and the candy store. You could walk into Kirshbaums and get just about any thing that you wanted except toys. You could not beat the sweet shoppe and their chili and cheeseburgers. This was an every Saturday thing for my siblings and myself. I remember Danners and all the fun we had seeing everyone in town shopping, walking and being kind to everyone. Now those were the good old days.

I miss Hoffy's Dogs when they were uptown. It is hard to find a place to get a good hotdog anymore.

It sucks waiting in that long line

Hoffy Dogs was pretty good. Yes we do need some other resturant to give McDonalds some competion. KP's has very good food and reasonable prices. A nice resturant with a salad bar.

Taco Bell, a sandwich shop and maybe a nice steakhouse. As I recall, the Boston store did have some pretty nice clothes. I've heard a lot of people have had a hard time finding the necessary gym clothes that the West Side Middle school requires. Having a place to purchase those would seem to help a bit or do away with the requirement, especially since kids grow so fast. It's just hard to find what you need around this town. The selection is so slim anymore. But we do NEED something for the kids like a skating rink or something that will keep them active.
