I agree with White. Lets put up the parking lot shrine and don't forget the R.I.P. stickers on the back of the S.U.V. Face it, the majority of the crime in our area is because of African American or Latino populations. Yes, there's others too, but this is the majority. Look at the the Zoo incident, youth running wild and now they'll get compensated for millions because of their stupidy. We need programs in California to keep the youth off the street and programs to get them involved. We need stricter laws and the ability to utilze one strike laws for certain crimes.
Yes this man's life is a travesty, but tomorrow, next week or next month, who outside of the family will really care? Another shooting will occur, another Shrine will go up. But really, who's fault is it; The shooter, the environment, the community, the victim? I bet they'll even start the "JR Memorial Fund" so his family can have a liitle more money. Jeez, give me a break. You can change a person environment, but you can't change the person.
P.S. In case you were wondering...I'm brown.

I don't feel comfortable using the term "coons" which is old-school bigotry pertaining to Blacks. You are correct about the fact that criminal elements from East Oakland and EPA are definitely contributing to the rise in crime here in the Tri-City area. It just so happens that Blacks are the prominent racial group from those areas. There are other racial groups moving into the low-income housing that some idiot thought was a fair thing to do to the citizens of this community. That appears to be the Latinos.

I'm not prejudice and I have an open mind for finding solutions to society's problems. I do not appreciate the lack of respect that is a growing factor in the rise of crime. If you are blessed enough to move into a low-income housing unit, you should have enough respect to keep yourself in check and don't bite the hand that feeds you.

We are not blind to the crime - we want our law enforcement to control the situation. We need to make sure that they have all the tools they need to get that job (which we pay them to do) done.

I am glad that there are people out there concerned enough to keep this subject alive.
