Before deciding how you're going to vote on NHUSD Measure B TAX consider this. The School District is going to spend $165 Million for "new construction and improvements at every New Haven School." See NHUSD Board of Education Breifs email dated Jan 19, 2011. Don't let anyone tell you "Oh! We can't use that money in the classroom. New Construction?? At a time we're closing schools and laying off teachers. Why should we approve another TAX? Remember the increase in U.C. sales TAX, the Landscape and Lighting TAX, the Measure UU TAX? You'll find these TAXES on your Property TAX Bill. Let's take the $3 million needed for our schools from the $165 Million Construction money and don't raise our TAXES. Vote NO on the Measure B TAX increase.
Did you notice the authors of Measure B said that no money will go to Administrators salaries? Why didn't they add ALL EMPLOYEES? Are we being asked to increase our TAXES to pay salaries?

I am not a registered voter so I am not entitled to vote on the NHUSD Measure B Tax. However, it is my opinion that all property owners should be entitled to vote on a measure that affects our property. As a property owner I should not be excluded from voting since I will be the owner paying for the tax increase if it is approved.

ok what in the world is wrong with you people? didnt you know that the money doesnt go to the administrators but to the extra curricular things that students enjoy. why cut the extra curricular? why do u always look at the programs first and not the people working in it. you could easily lay off the people who dont do crap. sure you would feel bad for doing it and now theyre part of the 12% or 10% who dont have a job. but why take it out on the kids? sports, classroom sizes, forensics, band, color guard, these things are all only going to affect the kids. you people really just want to cut the band and color guard program? James Logan was or still is ranked number one in the WORLD for those two programs? You really want to cut these two programs? What else will Union City be known for? NOTHING! it will just be a small town where 73977 people live; thats it, nothing more. this tax is just like paying $1 for coffee for a month i believe. You people are selfish from my point of view. hey you might be saying, "oh what does this person know? we're in a recession right now not everyone can afford it." well i understand that, go ahead and vote no but the kids are the future, what will they become of? who knows the drop-out rate might go up or kids will start to transfer to other schools. who knows. but for one thing sure kids need something in their life to do and you people just took it away from them. so vote yes on Measure B. its for the future for our kids

to "This Guy"....thank you for explaining in details what Measure B is about. Sheez....didn't they go to schools? This Measure B affects ALL EXTRA-CURRICULUMS.....track, swimming, tennis, band, color guards, etc.... Children need an outlet for their energy and focus. I would rather pay for the children of America to participate in a well-organized and supervised sport/program than have them bored and loitering somewhere.
It is $180 a year and for senior citizens, this tax is exempt. Per day, it is only $0.49.

Measure B is taking away the things that make us students be ourselves. Our School Activities are going away and we aren't happy about it. Keeping kids in the classroom even more wont make them listen more, we'll just want class to be over even more. Band, Choir, and Sports let us be us, and gives us an idea of what we want to be when we are older. Like if we want to be a professional athlete, or in a band or singing group. The things that Measure B is taking away from us are what makes us kids us. This is coming from a student and I'm sure other students agree with me. School is where we could get out of the house and join what we want to join and a chance to prove ourselves.
From a student who wants to speak his mind.
