It's about time the world starts pushing back on these two bit thugs.

The sooner they understand that pokin' a giant will get you stepped on, the sooner they'll go back to... whatever they did before becoming modern day Blackbeards.

I'm glad the captain of the ship came out of this disaster alive (and frankly, surprised he did so), but lets be 'real' here,, neither our government or any other gives a rats a$$ about what happens to our (or anyone else s) ships on the high sea's. It's long past time the U.N. takes care of the problems emanating out of Somalia and Africa in general...

You are obviously incorrect and way stupid when this country sends the very best military in the world for ONE man and they execute the mission flawlessly.

The death of Blackbeard..."Later during the battle, while Teach(Blackbeard) was loading his pistol he finally died from blood loss. Maynard then cut off his head and hung it from his bow."

Seems like they are in for the same fate.

Hooray!! Obama has made Somali waters safe for toxic waste dumping, and illegal ocean floor trawling again!
In some area's of Somalia, locals don't dare go into the water because they come out with severe skin rashes, or wind up in a medical tent.
Thanks, Obma, for throwing down the protester "pirates" trying to stave off the environmental rape of Somalian waters. Back in the day, Obama would have shot down Ghandi and called him a rabble rouser!
Keep going crazy, Obama!

the president can't win with some people. if he would have paid the ransom he would have been called a coward who with the greatest navy surrendered to a life boat. now that things have gone perfectly, there are people complaining about how hes condoning the enviornmental rape of a country. this is absured.
you know hwat i like about him. he's thoughful. he doesn't assume he knows everything. he takes his time and consults with people he knows are more knowledegable on a subject before making a decission. he's not gonna get everything right the process he undergoes is exactly right in my oppionion.
p.s. Go navy!

So these were not pirates, but just a local Somali branch of Greenpeace or the Sea Shepard Society? Just hardy patriots shooting RPG's at cruise ships in international waters, just in case they may be secretly trawling or dumping toxic waste?! Wow, your mom just called and she wants you to move out and get a job.....

U.S. Navy SEALS kick butt these lame Somalis should have realized they had no way out. Kill the hostage and get blown out of the water...keep the hostage and face a hostage rescue by some of the best operators the Spec Op Warfare world has ever seen. Note to Somalis mess with the U.S. at extreme peril to your own safety.....you think you would have learned in the 90's when the loses were about 15 of theirs to each 1 of ours

More than likely, a SEAL team was on station for several days, doing recon and awaiting further orders. A report saying that snipers on the fantail of the Bainbridge got the three seems incredulous.

It was dark, both the target and the Bainbridge were bobbing in the water, the hull is enclosed...nice shooting.

Possibly useful information:

The Somali pirates are all Muslims. When Jefferson sent sent the Marines against African pirates ("...to the shores of Tripoli...") all those pirates were Muslims. After the Marines were done, U.S. ships were not bothered by African pirates for 200 years.

Are the Somalis intelligent enough to understand they are messing with the wrong country? No! Some brainless nerd named Abdullahi Lami has now said

"In the future, America will be the one mourning and crying," he told The Associated Press. "We will retaliate (for) the killings of our men."

Guess what Abdullahi Lamer you just put your but t at the front of line. You just threatened the entire U.S. Check out history no one ever does this without putting their own head on the chopping block and 1st in line. You put your own people in imminent danger. Now Let's hope your villagers are smarter then you moron and take care of you 1st for putting them in harms way. Saving us the pleasure!

Good job members of Alabama, Captain Philips, US Navy, The SEALS, and Mr. Commander in Chief!

I nearly predicted this exact outcome last Thursday.

Those of you calling for us to go in and save the rest of the hostages don't understand this scenario. We only got involved to this degree finally, because they went after Americans. It's not our business to save the hostages from other countries that have wimped out to these thugs. Moreover they have not asked us to help them either.

Now the threat at us from LAMER is different again, he has directed a retalitory threat at this country. We now have every right to rub his b u t t out.
