This is the way the situation should have ended. The US Navy SEALS did their job and a very capable merchant Captain did his. Kudos to all involved and now let's figure out a way to get the 200 human hostages out of Somolia and then end that countries existence.

Why don't Obama just have Geithner print up a trillion $ for these Somalis and everthing be cool. Give everbody here in USA a trillion, too - that would be stimulus you could believe in.

Piracy and kidnapping are wrong.

But, how come there are never any news stories about Europeans dumping barrels of toxic waste in Somali waters or the Asians that come into Somali waters and illegally harvest all of the fish? Maybe, just maybe, these guys think they are protecting their homeland. Wouldn't we do the same?

You don't like the President? Fine. Please remember that he gave the order, the Navy and other agencies carried it out. This is a victory for America; if you can't celebrate because you want to tantrum about someone from the other party you need to move to Russia or China!

when bammy picks up a gun and does the work, he will get the credit. The brave men of the US Navy deserve the credit. Not bammy or whoever is president. Move to Russia or China? why? With the path this country is going soon we will be like them anyway.

Maybe as a wannabe Marine you would do things without orders but the Navy would not have attacked in this circumstance without the approval of the Commander in Chief.

Wow, it didn't take long for the radical conservatives to take this American success story and twist it into attacks on our President. What do you guys do in your spare time -- visit orphanages to tell the kids there is no Santa?

May I remind you that George W. Bush never saw combat? And it sounds like he spent more time in a bar than he did in the cockpit of the fighter planes he was suppose to be training in.

that the captain was given his freedom by the Navy but I also think they didn't have to kill the Somalis. President Obama should have sent the Seals in and rescued the captain without any bloodshed. The rest of the world already thinks we are bloodthirsty, now they have confirmation they are correct.

let me say this.. our miltary will respond with or without the commander in cheif say so..

the captain of the ship will respond to any situation that is deem to be dealt with!!! without going though channels.. but he better be right.. he will not sit there until he has permission to protect his ship or a life he will act on the situation at that moment and deal with it. that is why he is the captain of the ship..

The Somali elders who should have negotiated his release without ransom have been turned away. Some of them have traveled hundreds of kilometers. These elders have power in their communities and they could have released Philip easily without firing a bullet. This is the first bad foreign policy of Obama.
is action of killing will have a grave consequence for future captives, especially Americans.

News flash
Obama will come out and apologized for these American ship crew arrogance and mistakes for spoiling the terrorist plans of taking the ship.. How dare these men using water cannon on the terrorist. It’s a crime to water boarding the terrorist. It’s now a crime to mistreat the terrorist..
How dare these American ship crew for their arrogance!!!! As soon they come into the United States these men!!!! They should be sent to gitmo and water board for attacking my fellow muslin brothers.
How dare these American ship crew for their arrogance for prevent these muslin brothers from getting million of dollars for their safety?
our president Obama will make it right!! he needs to come out and apologized for these American ship crew arrogance and charge them!!!! the charges is going to be for mistreatment of the terrorist. They used the fire hose on the terrorist. That the same thing as water boarding.. They fought back so they had to used their fist and hands to get guns to take the ship back.. This is mistreatment of the terrorist..
god bless this crew and heck with obama and his freaking apologize to the world and his muslin brothers"

With all due respect are you for real? If what I can understand from your posting, you are are in dire need of psychiatric help plus some American and international history study!

Also, if you are not a US citizen, I suggest you pack your bags to leave for your home country before your visa expires or gets revoked. Some of your Pennsylvania neighbors don't take too kindly to folks advocating pirates and/or terrorists.

Freedom of speech and expression only goes so far, until, when one advocates or incites sedition, riots, or treason. Enough said; have a nice day going to your home country.
