I do not have any sympathy for Somali Pirates, but I worried about more than 200 innocent people under captivity by Pirates.
The fire can be fight by fire or by water. Pirates lost their ransom (The freight ship) and wanted to escape with their lives. Captain was their captive, but those 4 thugs practically were U.S Navy Captives too. Killing 3 of them means using fire to fight fire. Handing over them to Somali authorities means fighting fire with water. This will escalate the VIOLENCE ON THE REGION. I CANNOT BUY THE PHONY STORY of AK-47 pointed to Captain (no way to see through thick boat walls). THIS IS A SELFISH AUCTION, BY SELFISH AND NOT VERY SMART PEOPLE. THIS WILL BACK FIRE ON INNOCENT AMERICANS TOO.
Arm ships and let them to deal with each other, CLEAN and CLEAR, on the HIGH SEAS.
You just got to be kidding, seriously. You cannot let these people (pirates) get away with constantly hijacking ships in the area and getting millions of dollars in ransom money by threatening that otherwise they will kill the hostages. Please use your brain. How do you think something like this will end? Sooner or later somebody will respond to the pirates in the way they were responded to, finally. How do you think this whole pirate situation, which has been going on for a long time now, should be addressed? Seriously, can you give me an answer? That would really be interesting. Do you think we should just simply allow this to go on and on forever? When somebody robs my store and puts a gun to my head and says: give me your money or I will kill you; believe me, the moment I can, I will kill him, absolutely. I don't care whether they pointed a gun at the captain, they had no business hijacking that ship, NO BUSINESS WHATSOEVER; and they have furthermore no business keeping the hostages they are keeping. Why don't you talk to them and tell them to let these people go????? I really can't wait to hear a response from you; that shall be very interesting.

From now on, the crews must be allow to have guns to defend themselves.
The ships should definetely be heavily armed. I would also suspend all shipments that are not absolutely necessary such as the one that was carried by the Mearsk Alabama. They don't want help for their people? No problem.

If they kill the hostages they get no money and they get Special Operations Forces or UAV's after them.
