I am proud of our brave sailors from the US Navy, and of our country, for rescuing this courageous captain and dealing with these terrorists properly. When US citizens can be kidnapped by terrorists without such protective actions, that is when we are losing the war on terror and lawlessness. Great job!

That was the right action to take. For once we did something right.

Thanks to the Navy Seals, the Captain is safe and it looks like three of the four jerk off pirates are in Davy Jones' Locker.

Amen, United States Navy!
Â…Harardhere, a port and pirate strongholdÂ…
http://maps.google.com/maps...

Looks like a colorful, swinging little place - what assets does the US Navy still have that can be parked comfortably offshore and used to reduce greater Harardhere to hole-in-the-ground status? Men, women, kids; all dead - if they're living there they're 'enemy assets' and need deactivation.

Maybe any survivors might think about changing their line of work when they realize we're fed-up?. Or, at least, not bother US-flagged vessels/personnel again.

A lovely little piece of hardware that should be deployed on every ship traversing the area:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Gustav_reco...

The M3 is a true 84mm beauty capable of firing pretty much anything, to help reduce those pirates to chum and speed their souls on to whatever celestial fantasy they think they're gonna attain.

Several of these on every ship (with active/passive IR for 'night visits'), along with automatic weapons for close boarders, and pirating will be as dead an occupation as investment banking. Armament and training is vastly cheaper than insurance, lives, and ransoms.

Every navy says it can't patrol such a large area of ocean; they don't HAVE to - ships can take care of themselves; cheaply.

I was wondering about this also, who are 'elders' as mentioned in the article?

Yes, I agree, they'll have to have heavily armed security on each of those ships.

Enough of these pirate hijackings. The captain and crew should be armed, otherwise they're just sitting ducks for these bands of thieves. Blow their raggedy as*** out of the water, ask questions later. And congrats to our brave Navy Seals...and welcome home to the captain!

I do not have any sympathy for Somali Pirates, but I worried about more than 200 innocent people under captivity by Pirates.
The fire can be fight by fire or by water. Pirates lost their ransom (The freight ship) and wanted to escape with their lives. Captain was their captive, but those 4 thugs practically were U.S Navy Captives too. Killing 3 of them means using fire to fight fire. Handing over them to Somali authorities means fighting fire with water. This will escalate the VIOLENCE ON THE REGION. I CANNOT BUY THE PHONY STORY of AK-47 pointed to Captain (no way to see through thick boat walls). THIS IS A SELFISH AUCTION, BY SELFISH AND NOT VERY SMART PEOPLE. THIS WILL BACK FIRE ON INNOCENT AMERICANS TOO.
Arm ships and let them to deal with each other, CLEAN and CLEAR, on the HIGH SEAS.
