I can't believe we wouldn't have a couple of SEALS under that boat at all times. What the hell good is all our technology if we can't outsmart 4 skinny thugs in a dead boat?

The great United States Navy is powerless against 4 goons in a rowboat. Great.

If Obama didn't waste time in deciding what to do...these thugs would have been taken out a lot sooner...but Obama procrastinates, especially since it involved a muslin nation (Somalia)...

Has the Comamnder in Chief thought to thank the SEAL's, or maybe even a decoration, an award, or a medal?

I know, it's a leadership thing, the SEAL's have faced tougher things than the absence of it.

Seal Team 6 has been training for almost twenty years to handle this very situation. They are able to deploy anywhere in the world in a matter of hours. A real president would have activated them within an hour of being briefed of this situation and it would have been over in under 24 hours, long before the pirates would have expected a military intervention. The Joint Chiefs literally had to beg Barry for two days straight to get him to eventually sign an "escalation of action" memo which was essentially is a "shoot to kill" order. This is going to happen again and again, American sailors should still have the option of exercising their Second Amendment rights even while on the high seas. Any well trained marksman could have stopped this attack before they were aboard the ship…

Because of the covert nature of their operations, I'm guessing we will never know the identities of the SEALs. It sure is nice to know they are experts at getting the job done when we need them.

How good is the "Prez" with a military weapon? Obama was smart to give the commanders the go-ahead, but the SEALs got the job done. End of story.

Thank you for taking us inside the White house Situation Room. I wasn't aware of the "begging". Good thing you were there to witness it. Insight like yours is a rare commodity.

God bless America, the incredible military and veterans, the Captain, and all the people proud to call America home. God damn this apologetic, elitist administration.

The Captain did not seem to use any teleprompters.

He seems to have crafted his own speech. No speech writers, pollsters or lobbying / advisors.

No wonder Captain Phillips is a true hero and an inspiration in these troubled times.

We are grateful to the Captain, his family and the entire crew.
