Pirates seize U.S. merchant ship

Full story: LA Daily News 12
The U.S. sent warships speeding to the scene. But they were hours away when the brazen pirates attacked, and the world's greatest sea power had to face the fact that it had only limited options to respond to the startling seizure of American merchant seamen. Full Story

Really now! Just how hard is it to put some form of radar on these ships that will let them know when a boat is approaching? And how hard is it to have rifles and machine guns to ward them off? And so what if you have to kill a few of the pirates? This is really silly. Are you just sitting ducks in the water for these jerks? If I were on one of the freighters I'd have myself a gun, no several, hell the crew would be carrying guns. Capture one or two of these thugs and hang them high, get the newspapers involved and announce that this is waiting for the next bunch of pirates. Do this about three or four time and watch the attaches slow down. Fight fire with fire and stop being concerned with what anyone will think. KILL THE BASTARDS.

Pres. Barack Obama was asked to make a statement regarding the seizure of a U.S. merchant ship at a press conference Thursday. Obama deflected the question saying the meeting had to do with housing. What kind of leadership is this...not being able to answer a question by reporters? Oops, I forgot Obama didn't have his TELEPROMPTER with him because he can't think "on his feet", much like Bush.

So, because he chose not to respond to the question this obviously makes him a bad president. Give me a break. Unlike Dumya, Obama likes to be informed about issues before making comments. At least he takes q&a, unlike his predecessor.

And he's done such a good job so far with North Korea, Iran and Cuba. You must be very proud.

It just proves that Barack "The Anointed One" Obama is like a fish-out-of-water without his trusty teleprompter. Don't be a fool, Mr. Lundt, Barack Obama is the President of the U.S...he is supposed to know current issues, especially one that involves operations in the Horn of Africa.( If he can take time to study the NCAA basketball brackets, he can surely know what's been going on in the Middle East!!) It also shows that he may have graduated at the top of his class at Harvard but when asked a question at a press conference, he should be able to "think-on-his-feet" without someone telling him what to say.( He just may not be so bright after all!!!)

Every yrs. u.s forced to give state of israel 8 billion dollars in aid and that money borrow directly from them china. Some of that money funnel back to u.s buying out every things from politicians to media. Why can't we take some of that aid money like couple billion and assist in rebuilding Somali.

Why is it the job of the United States to rebuild Somalia? What we need is some snipers on these ships and when these knuckle dragging "pirates" get close to ships they need to be taken out. Pop a few dozen of these jerks and the piracy will stop.

Maybe Pres. Obama is working on his picks for "Fantasy Baseball" and doesn't want to be disturbed by the situation dealing with the pirates?
