Route 2 showcases the carnage of casino gamblers almost daily and this story; is just a sad tale of personal destruction. Because this woman was a cop, her very common story became news. The story, like her career is over but the courant will beat the drum for a few more days.
Although I will miss the Courant, mostly cause it's free on the internet (kinda like the enquirer at the check out line)....I hope the new paper leaves the hatchet type reporting solely to WFSB.

John Doe, You are correct....It is becoming an everyday thing....The casino's were not, in my mind, a good thing for the state....But greed has it's way....And the Tribes are doing to us what our ancestors did to them, only hitting our pockets....Hard

She was a great cop who just had a weakness, if the allegations are true.

Really
Was gambling her weakness or was failing to do anything about it before it ruined her life and made her a criminal her weakness?

"You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run."

Obviously she didn't heed the warning.

She probably still doesn't realize that she "might" have a gambling problem.

That's too bad.

We are all humans and make mistakes. If this young lady gets the proper treatment and help that she needs, along with group support, she will beat this addiction and repay the monies she gambled away. I am not making excuses for this officer, but the way today's society is, we need to forgive her and let her move on, once she has repaid the money.

Not to get off the beaten path, but former President Clinton committed perjury, a felony, while in office-that in itself an abuse of power. We basically ignored that fact, and let him continue with his job. He lied to a grand jury and to us, the people who elected him, but we forgave him. Let us do the same for Michelle.

We all make mistakes? Huh? Being late for an appointment is a MISTAKE. Stealing money from kids is a character flaw and her rehab should be in prison. Her husband should dump her faster than the garbage she is.

It is inconceivable that any competent police administrator could allow such a level of abuse to occur, and then say after it is discovered: "We'll be keeping a better eye out in the future."

The police chief needs to concentrate on LEADING and directing the needed control systems in Manchester's department, and stop the nonsense of applying to every vacant police chief opening throughout the entire eastern United States -- police chief posts that he has heretofore been unsuccessful at getting offers for.

Poor leadership=poor internal controls.

Good point PIC, I agree, he should worry about Manchester and concentrate on his own department and stop trying to get a job in a warmer climate. But that seems to be his only concern. I say Manchester start looking now for a new Chief and just replace him.

Gambling, like alcoholism or any other kind of addiction, turns us into something we're not, making us unrecognizable. We all make mistakes, some bigger than others. Is what she did wrong? Yes. But she was a great cop with a big heart. If all this media babble is in fact true, then I hope she gets all the help she needs. Good luck Michelle.

Thank you!! Well said...you have to remember that all these "forgive her" whackos are relatives and friends. Becuase its not THEIR children who were stolen from....unbelievable. No one forces anyone to go to the casino and bet. It begins as a choice..and continues that way. She had to know what she did was wrong, but did it anyone. POS loser.
