Jodie---do you see this and how private industry reactes to slowdowns--they cut back--they don't have the option to charge fifty cents for a twent five cent slot.

This will hit the construction industry hard, unless all the tradesmen can find work at Mayor Eddie's or a Hartford City Council member's house. Then the only problem will be if they get paid or not.

I think the trades will be OK seeing as how Gang Banger Eddie is forcing all major business in downtown hartford to flee for the burbs. Hopefully, there will be construction projects in Windsor, Bloomfield, etc for years to come

What's wrong with rehabilitating an existing structure?

There's a lot of empty houses in need of repair out there, as well as commercial property.

SCREW NEW CONSTRUCTION!

Part of this mess we're in was the ridiculous rate of new construction over the last several years.

KB Homes, Toll Brothers, not to mention our local developers...s-u-c-k on that for awhile.

Is there a vacant 39-story building somewhere near Mohegan Sun that can converted into a world-class hotel?

Doesn't Northland already have exclusive development rights to that parcel? They are planning something to compliment the other tourist attractions in the region. I'll bet they postpone their plans too.

Actually, according to monthly payouts listed in Casino magazine, fifty cent slots return a higher payback to the player than twenty five cent slots. BTW, no one forces you to play the slots.

I was in the new MGM Grand casino at Foxwoods last Sat. It was filled but the other casinos were only about half occupied. Weeks ago the courant reported a drop to about 5% slot profit and the other casino (Mohegan?) had the usual 16%.

right on the money, the whole production line building of houses has lead to a glut of houses and a push for lenders to loan money to unqualified people and its all crashing down now

Those Casinos should be shut down , All they do is Exploit the elderly. If the State didnt get so much of a payoff our atty Gen would close them up for Elderly abuse. Its sickening to watch what goes on there.

until elderly people are forced against their will to go to the casino this idea is rediculous, no one forces anyone to gamble
