Not suprised. This economy has been in a recession for years. No one wants to admit it though. At least they got the restuarant I want to go to open.

Maybe if they gave out a comp once and a while, business would be better.

Who cares! They are all criminals anyways. Government should open up their own casino and reap 100% of the profits.

Don't go to Mohegan. You can't win there. I only know people that win at Foxwoods. Mohegan does not pay. they are crooks that take your money. I hope they lose all their business. at least you can win at Foxwoods. i don't know anyone that has won at Mohegan lately. Boycott Mohegan

Boo hoo, who cares? I'd like to see them go broke.
They haven't given much to the state, so why should be care about them? They even fought it when the poor people that work for them tried to unionize.

I can not believe people think they win anything at either casino. I do not feel bad for anyone who goes to either place thinking their going to win. Unless your a high roller that can afford to play the fifty dollar machines or higher you do not belong anywhere near these places. If you work for a living stay home and play cards with family or friends, at least you have some idea what is happening to your money.
The casino's are not here for you to make money, they want your money, car and house if they can get it from you.

IMO the government should share some of that bailout money with the casinos. Take a good look at your local town/city budget. There's a lot of money coming in from those casinos. And unlike property/income tax, no one is forced to give casinos their money. Think of it as donations to your local schools and roads. Meanwhile, the investment firms are getting bailed out. What did they ever do for local towns? I'm thinking all of you angry posters are regular visitors to the casinos that end up losing more than winning.

Only people who are suckers play the slots. Play the table games and you will have a fair shot at winning. I do agree that more casinos should be built. Lowell (father of the income tax) Weiker was the one who gave them the monopoly on casinos. Since then two dog tracks and three jai-alai frontons have closed taking their jobs with them. Those facilities were built in the 70's and bailed the state out of budget deficits then. They were in business for 20+ years paying taxes and got screwed by Weiker. They should have been allowed to have slot machines and/or poker rooms. They were here FIRST and also paid taxes!

That's how it should be in every state. Whoever let these Indians open all the Casinos was a fool.

State run casinos meean all the profits go to the state and would have much better (union ) jobs where people could actually make a decent living.

I'm sure most people would go to state run casinos over Indian casinos if they had the option

WHAT INDIANS? These casinos are ILLEGAL. There was NO established tribe here, which is a prerequisite to building a casino. Read "Without Reservation" by Jeff Benedict. Boy, they sure have pulled a good one over on everyone. Some of us KNOW the truth, including the corrupt politicians who lined their pockets! I seem to remember Rowland helping them out quite a bit. What a surprise!

I live within minutes of TWO stinking casinos. I should have NO tax on my home!!!!!!!!!!Rotten, corrupt SOB'S!!!!!!!!!!

"Without Reservation" is about the Mashantucket Pequots. Mohegans met all the federal criteria... Mashantuckets took a less orthodox route.

Obviously written by a Foxwoods employee. I happened to be at the Sun earlier today and saw more than one or two big winners...

the state gets a ton of money from both casinos. if they were not around our income tax would have gone up and our sales tax would be 10%. dont get me wrong i have no pitty for them they made amazing amounts of money for a long time, but fact is without them we all would be paying more.

Not really, The State just got used to the payoffs. They also blew all of that money.
