I'm going to trade in my SUV for a good pair of sensible walking shoes.

I'm going to turn my thermostat to 85 in the summer and 55 in the winter.

I'm going to plant several good trees and shrubs.

I am going to restrict my diet to healthy leafy greens and give up red meat which comes from animals that are bred just to give off methane.

I'm going to insist that all of my food containers are totally recyclable.

I am going to give up personal hygiene to conserve water.

Okay, I did that. What? The incredible quantity of greenhouse gases caused by the natural eruption of the volcano did not diminish at all as a result of my "feel good" sacrifices?

Gracious me!

Never fear. The volcano had been buying carbon offsets for the past 10 years.
