Don Howard sounds like a Neanderthal. Republican stooges will enjoy and agree with his opinion.

Although I agree that unions are part of the problem, I completely disagree with Don Howard. Simple minded thinking for simple minded folks is only making the problem worse and is what got us in this mess to begin with.

Thank God the stooges weren't able to privatize social security or legalize the illegals to do the all the jobs in the private sector Americans won't do. I'm sick and tired of Republican &^%$#@, and how wonderful the private sector is.

Mr Howard:

I am afraid that you have been scammed by the radical conservative propagandists.

Our government is not a pawn of employee unions. The biggest lobbyist in Washington is The US Chamber of Commerce and son of a gun if they are not financed TOTALLY by Carl Roves radical Republicans and The Fox Empire.

So total is the criminal corporate control of congress that you can no longer tell them apart. The military industrial complex is the government.
The Government is the military industrial complex. 1/3 of all Congress Members are millionaires. Let me repeat that. 1/3 of all Congress Members are millionaires. They are all owned lock stock and barrel by Criminal Socialistic Corporations.

Criminal Corporations have been waging war with unions ever since Reagan and they have been succeeding. Union membership has been decreasing steadily in this country ever since.(and our economy has suffered because of it) Europe has a lot more unions than us and their economy is much more sound today.

Wages and benefits are not the biggest items in our national budget. Military spending is the biggest item in our budget (51%).

Finally, subcontracting federal responsibilities has never worked. All you have to do is look at Halliburton, one of our favorite privatized armies. You cannot even count the cost in dollars and loss of morale by our troops by their privatization. And please remember that privatization does not decrease the size of government.(You are just farming out activities)

How could you possibly have been scammed by the racical conservative branch of the republicans?

PS You are about to see one one the biggest growth of unions in the history of America in the next 25 years.

Yes, we have all been oppressed by corporations, including you.

I do not suggest that you have NOT been a good hard working and deserving American worker. My conclusions are nothing personal. I have a lot of respect for you. We just differ in our perceptions of what is occuring in our suffering society

Only greedy entitlement people like unions. They love the idea of getting paid more than they're worth, getting more benefits than they earn, being able to sue employers for stupid non offensive acts, and having job security even when their employer doesn't, ie can't afford excessive payroll during bad months but forced to pay by union, leaving employees completely financially secure while the employer struggles and makes sacrifices. Unions fall right in line with the California radical liberals who want something for nothing, plus a side dish.

The problems with the unions is the fact that they reward length of service and not performance. Turnover is a good thing. Unions breed slow lazy people. The longer you stay the more you make, the longer vacation you get, and so on. Don't take any chances, don't make any waves, just stick around and don't go anywhere or you lose it all.

On the other hand what a horrible idea it is to privatize things like social security, law enforcement, animal control, parks, and so on. You think Carmel is bad, just wait until you get a real CEO looking out for their own interest and profit. You bunch yokels won't know what hit you.

Privatizing social security is an excellent idea. What's stupid is grown ups sending their money to someone else to hang onto for them, like little 4 year old kids giving their money to Mommy to hold onto. And then letting the people holding that money refuse to give you that money until they decide you get it at a certain age.
Your own money. Lost your job and out of food? No problem, you've paid into this thing called social security for years and years, so you have money. Right? Nope. You can't touch that money, even though it's YOUR money. Too bad so sad the government is holding your money hostage and refusing to let you touch it until they dictate when.
As for the groups who were claiming that privatizing social security would mean cutting our elderly off of their social security, those people were idiots.
Obviously nobody was going to cut off the elderly, privatizing social security would be a slow organized process not an overnight turnover.
Privatizing social security would allow us to....imagine this...hang on to our own money that we've worked for and earned, and do with it as we wish.
Instead of relying on government who have shown us how they handle our money (by borrowing from it without our permission and not paying back), and since they've shown us that we get minimum return on our money when we retire and draw a soc sec check, clearly we can do better ourselves.
It's my money and I would it use it and invest it in ways that would bring me much, much higher return than the government ever can.
My kid's future would be far more secure if I was allowed to keep my own money and use and invest it my way instead of letting the government play with it and bring it down to nothing.

Look at the school system as an example………….

Before my children were of school age I visited nearly every primary school from Northern California from the south bay to the Oregon border..

I was totally dicusted at the schools and the school system

So I uprooted my family and moved to Mexico where I knew the school system were far above the level of what most schools in the USA are at…

Greed is one of Americas biggest afflictions today and Unions are definitely part of the problem, along with federal state and county politicians, illegal drug dealers, Defense subcontractors, and most of corporate America, and so on and so on.

I just watched the Charlie Rose Talk Show and his guest was Charles Ferguson Author/Film Director. He just made a film called "Inside Job" that puts forth the argument that America isn't in the throws of an unforeseeable financial obstacle but is actually, systematically and insatiably being robbed, and is still being robbed today. It's scary how closely the film tracks to my own feelings that Corporate America isn't ready for the honor system quite yet.

The link below is to a two-minuet film trailer that you might find very interesting.

http://www.youtube.com/watch...

I'm going to see if I can rent the movie or maybe the library has it.

P.S. I believe that the person in the trailer who says, "We have to keep dancing until the music stops" is George Soros who is today spearheading and financing the campaign to legalize all drugs in America.
