Chino mine workers on paid leave

Four hundred employees at the Freeport-McMoRan Copper and Gold Chino Mines Co. in Santa Rita were placed on paid leave Tuesday, company spokesman Richard Peterson said.

Are they going to fill in the Hole? If not why not? They took out the dirt they can put it back, or make one great big lake that has lots of trout in it.

Why would they fill in the hole? This is a temporary shutdown due to little demand and low prices for copper. Elkstine, obviously you haven't lived around here very long or you would know this is cyclical; when copper prices improve, the workers will be recalled. How long that will be is anyone's guess.
