Where are Dustin Rust and Chris Green now?

I'm sure Rust did the smart thing. He plea-bargained to stay out of jail, and ran for his life, away from Tyler. There are a lot of unanswered questions about the whole thing. Why did the Rust's alleged misuse of county resources all of a sudden become apparent right before the primaries, in which his father was running for Sheriff? How in the &%## did the incompetent boob Larry Smith win the nomination over at least three much more qualified law enforcement professionals? It appears that the power brokers in Tyler's political machine made their pick of who they wanted as Sheriff and made sure that happened.

The Tyler Paper didn't dig very much into this situation, did they? I'm not surprised. Business as usual in Tyler.

Another unanswered question is why the investigation into the White House officials was dropped. It wasn't just dropped, it was put to a halt by Matt Bingham. Wonder why?

Never been called a "Power Broker" before, but I do run a political machine.

Hey Don't, Donn is very qualified. Would have made a great Sheriff.

Sorry to dissapoint, but I'm not Donn. I'm not Dustin, either. I voted for Chris Green, who seemed to be the most qualified candidate. As far as I know, "Dusty Rusty" was as guilty as sin and perhaps should have gone to prison. I'm guessing that if he had not irritated the wrong people, he would have gone unnoticed. Larry Smith's answer to the county's woes seems to be to serve water instead of Cool-Aid in the jail and to "stand up for gun owners's rights."

Get ready for some disappointing years from the Sheriff's office.

P.S. I shouldn't have rated Donn as "qualified." I should have said he was "less unqualified" than the one you ding-a-lings in Smith County elected.

Well, at least now I can go buy beer to drown out my sorrows...

Curious, can you tell me Green's qualifications for being a Sheriff?

And just what are Larry Smith's qualifications, again, Dale?

As for the Dustin Rust situation, I'm just curious about the following:

1. Why did the paper and TV stations NEVER report any attempt on their parts to interview anyone from the Woods subdivision to find out what actually was going on with that arrangement?
2. On the map, the Woods subdivision doesn't look that big. Did residents there actually see constables' vehicles patrolling all of the time. Did anybody from the local rag actually knock on doors or make phone calls to find out?
3. You didn't see much digging into the situation Rust got into down in Whitehouse, did you?

Note: The whole case against Rust was based on 1. Allegedly high fuel bills (addressed above) and 2. Statements from deputies who were given immunity from prosecution themselves.

I don't assert Rust was innocent. I just think more was going on and the local news showed their usual lack of curiosity when it came to questioning what was going on with some of their favorite local politicians.

Clueless those dingalings outnumbered you

Dusty had no business in law enforcement. I guess it doesn't bother you that he was making money at the taxpayers expense. He should have went to jail but what do expect from the good ole boys of SC? He and his daddy both are liars IMO....... GOOD RIDANCE

Had you read my comments you would understand that I am not asserting that Dusty Rusty was guilty or innocent. What I am saying is that, if he is guilty, he is not the only one lying here. And he is certainly not the only "dirty" elected official in Smith County.

So, somebody tell me what qualifies Larry Smith as a competent law enforcement official?(Other than being hand-picked by Smith County's political machine!)

8plus years with Greg county and over 20 with the DEA and ATF. He's worked homicides, rapes and other crimes vs that of a expert in fish and game laws I guess the dingalings in smith county see the difference. Perhaps you will eventually

I could care less about the Rust situation. I would like to know why the investigation in Whitehouse was stopped. Those guys were accused of stealing also. So, is it okay for certain elected officials to steal but not others?
