You've got to be kidding? Name one thing he's accomplished since being elected?

Nix is nothing more than a puppet for Terry Phillips and JoAnn Fleming. Like Phillips, he'll be out of office after his next election. Smith County can't afford any more of this type of backward thinking.

Joe, he has done more than you'll ever know since he was elected. I know this man, and he take orders from no one! I dare wager you that he gets re-elected.

Apparently, I need to be educated about his accomplishments as a County Commissioner. Would you care to list them?

A little inconsistency there Theo: In the past Nix's supporters commenting on these sites have claimed he didn't have anything to do with the Dustin Rust investigation. Now, you are giving him credit for it? Somebody ain't telling the truth.

Also, Larry Smith's supporters here have denied that he and Nix were political allies. Yet, your comments about both of them seem to imply some linkage. Hmmmm.....

Could this be the Smith County political machine at work?

Nix clarified that remark made in the tri county leader. His quote was in reference to the INVESTIGATION of Ronny Fite and Rick Waller. He had nothing to do with that and it was taking completely out of context which he stated.
Do a little research before making false statements

So, after he's caught in a lie he goes back and "clarifies." Sounds like a typical politician. You guys just keep drinking that Koolaid.

Cary Nix does not have to lie, cause he does the right thing. I know him and he is a man of very high intergity and morals.

I encourage the Nix Supporters to list his accomplishments as County Commissioner. I know many, many men and women of “high integrity and morals”, but that does not equate to leadership on the County Commissioner’s Court.

Nix attempts to take credit for the Smith County Jail Expansion. That could not be farther from the truth. The success of this plan is solely at the feet of Commissioner Jeff Warr. He was the brainchild behind the plan, and he is the one that united the court on this long overdue project.

Nix has sided with Commissioner Terry Phillips on every single vote that has been taken. Watch the video of the Commissioner’s meetings. He glances toward Phillips and follows suit. Nix has allowed Phillips to create a quagmire of ESD #2. They have appointed more people to the board that were hand-picked than in the previous 4 years the board existed. Those board members have turned the ESD into a battleground.

Nix has made no attempt to get the dilapidated county roads on a track to repair. He has sat back in the lap of Terry Phillips and allowed the roads to continue to deteriorate all the while cutting the county budget. Where is the logic in this type of action?

Maybe I am jaded at the lack of leadership in areas such as these and have failed to see the positive accomplishments that he has made as a County Commissioner. Again, please educate me. All I see is another puppet on the stings of JoAnn Flemings hands.

I am proud Cary Nix is a Commissioner. I'm glad he questioned Dustin Russ's activities. Dustin deserves to be indicted. I wish other elected officials had Comm. Nix's backbone to stand up and do the right thing.

Nix hasn't taken credit for then jail expansion. He just supported it, which again was the right thing to do. THANK YOU' COMM. NIX.

So, Nix’s sole “accomplishment” was to stir the waters with another elected official right before an election where both the elected official and his father were running for office and were on the other side of the battle line from Nix and his boss, JoAnn Fleming? I’m not saying that Constable Rust (oh, and it’s Rust, not Russ), has done nothing wrong, but I find the timing of the entire thing to be very suspicious.

Nix and Rust have been at odds due to Rust’s request for more money for his office during last year’s budget talks. Rust’s accomplishments as Constable are unremarkable. His office received the least money of the Constables, yet he has done more work than the other Constables. Seems like he deserved more money. Sadly, JoAnn Fleming told Terry Phillips to shut down Rust and he used Nix to do his (or her to be honest) dirty work.

Will Rust be convicted? I’m not convinced, but until he does, he’s innocent until proven guilty, just like any of us would be when under indictment. Give me a break people, do some research and get the “rest of the story” before you spout off on here about how Nix is your buddy, or attends your church, or whatever. Nix is tainted and will be a single term Commissioner. He’s received the kiss of death from Fleming. They will turn on him just like they do on the rest of their pawns….. watch and see.

Commissioner Nix will be voted out 2 years from now. Mark my words. JoAnn Fleming and all of her cronies are being run out of town on a rail! I’ll rejoice the day that she has no influence in our local politics and that day is fast approaching. The middle of the road and sideline voters are waking up to their foolish ways. Keep screw up JoAnn, keep screwing up!

Have you guys gone and checked out Barnett? His website is texansforbarnett.com . He is running against Nix. I have been checking up on him and have found what he has been doing in the private sector and it is all good.

Now check what else I found on Nix:

Cary Nix of Whitehouse announced his bid for re-election to the Smith County Commissioners Court at a news conference at the Smith County Court Annex Thursday, Sept. 5.

Nix, who is a lifelong resident of Smith County and raised in Whitehouse, was elected to the office in 2010. Nix, who with his wife, Sharon, live in Tyler, is commissioner of Precinct 2, which includes the Troup, Whitehouse, part of Tyler and the southwest portion of Smith County.

“We still have some unfinished business (WHAT UNFINISHED BUSINES IS HE REFERRING TO) that I’d like to accomplish before I leave office, and hopefully the voters will give me another chance to fulfill those goals,” Nix said at his announcement.

Nix said those goals include improvements to the county roads and infrastructure.

“They cut the budget so severe several years ago before I got into office,” he said.“It been a long climb to get back started to where we need to go.”

Nix said he also wants to work toward making sure that county contracts are awarded without favoritism (IS HE SAYING THERE HAS BEEN A HISTORY OF CONTRACTS AWARDED DUE TO FAVORITISM?), that elected officials are not swayed by perks and benefits by potential contractors (HAS THERE BEEN A HISTORY OF ELECTED OFFICIALS BEING SWAYED BY ILLEGAL PERKS AND BENEFITS?) and that county officials are “not for sale.”(IS HE SAYING THAT COUNTY OFFICIALS HAVE BEEN FOR SALE BEFORE?)

“I am committed to a renewed focus on transparency (OBVIOUSLY NOT IF HE HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN SECRET MEETINGS WITH ESD FOLKS AND INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE) in everything we do,” Nix said.

This is your chance folks--to break up the triumvirate of Joel Baker, Jeff Warr, and Carey Nix.

BUT YOU WILL HAVE TO VOTE IN THE REPUBLICAN PRIMARY, AS IT WILL DETERMINE WHO TAKES THEIR OFFICES.

Do you want more of the same: Deterioration of county roads, bridges and other infrastructure? All while they GENEROUSLY fund and coddle their lawyer and judge friends in office and raise elected officials' salaries to get political brownie points? More lies and slight-of-hand when it comes to just HOW they are "keeping taxes low?" Continued brow-beating, threatening, and abuse of citizens who have legitimate complaints about how their county government is run?

As an added bonus, Smith County voters have an epic opportunity to remove District Attorney Matt Bingham and Judge and world-class nut-job Carole Clark from office. Getting those two out alone should save the county several million dollars per year, if you're so interested in cutting costs!
