I wonder who pays for the Chief's training and all his new toys? If you ask me, Joe Whisenant was as good as it will ever get for that police department. The current Chief is all about himself and can never fill those boots. I like how he put his name all over all of the cars. Police Dept.'s don't do that. He wants to make sure everyone knows there is a new Chief in town. Everyone knows it, but nobody really likes it.

Well aren't you just a big friggin' ray of sunshine! Prune juice should help fix the problem.

Just so you know, Chris is attending all of the same conferences around the country and all the same training that Joe attended every year... Joe just didn't publicize what he did like it is being publicized now.

Joe wasn't as visual to the community as the current chief. The new Chief seems to get out of the office and participates in local events. In my opinion there is not one thing wrong with that, and if anything it gives one the impression he is approachable. I also don't think Chief Womack has ever once said he could fill Joe Wisnant's boots, or has ever expected he would be as good as him. As I recall it, Womack didn't run Joe out of his post, so pull the bone the out of yer spur Hollington because you make yourself look like a jealous and sore loser if not somewhat of a sour puss.

We were very fortuante to have Joe and now Chris! They are both amazing and Chris likes to be active in the community. And for those of you worrying about money spent, most of the things you have seen done lately was purchased with drug money that was seized!:-)

Well I can see your point and it is enlightening and good to know that most of the new fancy things were paid for with narcotics money. Makes you feel a bit better about it. Maybe it is just hard to give way to change. Maybe he is just more active which sometimes can been misinterpreted. I am going to retract my statement and apologize.

Thank you Hollingston. Only a good and respectable man can step back, rethink his position, and then retract it altogether.

Although I am a law abiding citizen, I too have never been much of a fan of the whole "good ole boy" system of law in Douglas County and Douglasville. That being said, I do agree that Chris Womack is an excellent Chief of police as well as a good person. Chris was never one to be a part of that good ole boy mentality years ago and it is my hope that he has not succumbed to it now. So what if he puts his name on the police cars? Let the man do his job and then judge him accordingly. God bless you Chris and good luck!

I am a police officer's wife, anytime I say anything nice about the police department, I am just being "biased" according to others, but I (HONESTLY) personally think Chief Womack is doing a great job. Also I have seen him in action with his own family and he is a true family man, and he is a role model for young men. You guys could not ask for a better leader in this community. The police department will always miss Joe, as will the community, but Chief Womack was ready and prepared for this and he has exceeded expectations. We are very fortunate to have him. He is an honest man and he truly cares about the men and women under his command. Way to go Chief Womack!!:-)

I second that! You don't even have to know him personally. Just observe him and even go up and shake his hand if you have chance. Then you will see for yourself that the guy is pretty down to earth. But, he has a job to do and if you're on the wrong side of the law, don't expect him to send you flowers in jail because he wants you to think he is still a nice guy. I've listened to him speak and I get the impression he and his team of officers don't sit back and wait for crime to happen, rather they are actively engaged in hunting for law breakers.

I really don't believe the name on the police vehicles is vanity on the Chief's part. I see it as more of a message letting the community know who their new city public servant is. If we see it regularly the name becomes familiar to us and is almost comforting in that we can all name the name of our top watch dog, so to speak.

Douglasville PD are hard chargers. They go out and initiate things to prevent crime. They are the best we could possibly hope for, and Chief Womack is a big part of that.

I have been friends with both Joe and Chris. Two very different men with very different personalities and management styles. Is one better than the other? No, just different. Of course, Joe was run off by Mickey Thompson so lets just hope that Chris doesn't fall under the same curse!

Both are cut from the same cloth and both have egos too big for any one man. Don't believe everything you see and know that the new chief has one person he is concerned about first and above all. I don't trust or like him but maybe he will do ok. The jury is still out on tha.
