We are very fortunate in this city to have artists who are articulate and contributing to our communities. Thanks to the Indianapolis Star for talking to a visual artist. Hopefully we will see more articles reflecting our community rather than what is happening outside of Indianapolis.

Since I am her "older" sister, I have always known the time, energy and talent that Caroline has put into her artwork. She does not just make art, she lives it! Even so, I am amazed every time I vist Indianapolis and see the new studio work she is doing and equally impressed with the work that guides her students to acheive. I only wish I lived closer!

It was a pleasure to read your article on Caroline Mecklin. Not only is she a personal friend of mine, but she has been influential in the aspirations and attitudes of her students. It is great to know that someone still treats art as a form of expression rather than a source of implementing their incomes!!!!

I can't agree more with Caroline's statement regarding her giving back to the community. Her work with children in the programs of VSA arts of Indiana has shown her flexibility to the needs of each individual student, regardless of ability or past experiences in the arts. She makes Indianapolis a better place for her fellow artists and children in general.

It's refreshing to see the Indianapolis Star profiling one of our many talented art professionals. I miss the gallery listings in the Sunday paper, but I really do enjoy reading about our local artists as well. Thanks!

Great article about Caroline Mecklin. I have had the privilige of being a student of hers for several years. The article highlights her enthusiasm for art and for teaching and how she incorporates both into her life. Actually, she also communicates these values to her students, where we come away with more than expertise but with an appreciation that art is an important part of being a balanced human being. The article conveys this very well.

Caroline is a wonderful artist and promoter of teaching figurative art in the city. As a fellow figure artist in the Drawn From Life show currently at the Bona Thompson Center, I appreciate the Star's support of figurative artists. I also wish to thank you for your article a week ago on the Drawn From Life show. Figurative art is a trend that is resurfacing in the art world nationally. I was unaware of this comment section, and would have noted this sooner. Once again, thank you.

Thanks for the great interview of my friend Caroline Mecklin. I treasure my friendship and collegial relationship with Caroline, and we have worked to maintain our connection despite years of geographic separation. One question I would have like answered: How has she managed to raise two children, maintain a wonderful marriage, work, and continue to commit whole-heartedly to the serious practice of art? I still don't know how she has done it all, but she is a dynamic, energetic woman, and I continue to marvel at her accomplishments.

A late arrival...
...I was just given a printed copy of this article today, by a woman who printed it for her grand-daughter as inspiration. Bravo, Caroline! Thank you for your refreshing honesty about our community and how it has grown and where we still must strive to reach.
And thank you for staying in our community, sharing your work and spirit, and nudging us along the way.
