(Quoted from above article)"...Gomez, who was sleeping with two 40-caliber Glock handguns, awoke and thought he saw someone coming in the motel room door and began shooting in self defense, Haas said.
The state sought bail of $500,000.
Burchard set bail at $100,000, agreeing with Haas’ request for lower bail by saying Gomez seemed to be a fairly responsible person."

Oh, yes, sounds like a "fairly responsible person" to sleep with TWO 40-caliber Glock handguns... in Twisp of all places... Oakland maybe... but TWISP?! This was the first murder there in thirty years!!! What in the world made this man so paranoid?!!! Hm...

I am pretty sure this is the same judge who set another murder suspect's (Lacy Hirst-Pavek) bail low enough for her to also walk around free while awaiting trial.

What an outrage. It is time for Okanogan County to join the 21st century...

And, what a sad, sad story... my heart goes out to his wife & children...

Jesus-

I have guns-I never take them to a hotel room. Any sane gun owner-on a small trip does NOT feel the need to sleep with 2 glocks.!

It cost a person I knew-their life. For what? This moron was on something....and anyone who cant see it or stands up for him is a complete idiot!

Tom was a great person-What the HELL?

Actually a lot of people sleep with guns in this area. That is why the robbery and murder rate is so low. The guy that was shot must have not been from around here or he would have known better than to bust into someone's house illegally.

Alex. You really should educate yourself with the facts before spouting off... he wasn't "busting" into anything... he had merely put his key into the wrong door. Sheesh...

You are a complete JACKASS!

What are you going to do-"SHOOT ME"???

Freak-as citizen wrote above-he merely went to the wrong room!

You may want to educate your ignorant moronic ass and look into a few details dipshit!

Now-I am all for someone having a gun to protect them/their family if they are CAPABLE OF HANDLING THE RESPONSIBLITY!

NOONE--except a jackass crack addict sleeps with 2 guns over their chest. There isnt a sane person on this planet that does that.

I think this guy was paranoid to the hilt-perhaps a drug deal gone wrong? Who knows.

Alex the dipshit seems to think that its OK-to have shot a person for absolutely no reason. "he must not be from around these parts"...

Wow-what a gleaming example of steaming cow shit she/he is!

I have no idea why someone would shoot thru a door-and sleep with 2 pistols. Rather than defend the criminal-someone needs to realize how pointless it was to shoot and kill a father/friend of so many!

Rest in peace Tom! As for the killer-dont let me catch you wondering about. There would be plenty of people who would take vigilante justice on your worthless pathetic ass!

The man didn't just walk into the wrong room. He had to break in to get that door open because it was locked and blocked with a chair. There were no bullet holes through the door, indicating that the door was indeed ajar. The shooter's tox screen was clean. The intruder's was not.

BULLSHIT-

Tom simply was using the key-was shot twice-once in the wrist and once in the liver. The guy fired a third shot that went into the room next door.

Who in the F do you think you are?

Oh-and how do I know? FROM HIS WIFE-she was there...were you? Jackass-

He shot THRU the f-ing door. Tom was not a violent man-

You are a deuschebag!

BTW--he skipped bail! Yeah-that sounds like the act of an innocent man.

The police report states---and I QUOTE---

"One bullet passed through the lock side of the door, and the second went into the hinge side"

Wow-I guess that would mean he shot THRU the door.

You are a waste product.

Is that a fact Alex? In case you don't know the rest of us who have a pistol for protection would wait until someone entered and would yell, I've got a gun, get out or I shoot you." And do you know how many people accidentally stick their key in the wrong door of a hotel or motel? You must not travel but I will tell you what: There is no ecuse for what that guy did. It was invalid as self defense!!!! I suppose if the maid happened to come in to warn there is a fire get out...she should be shot?
