I do not think he asked them to get into the vehicle and I believe the kids made that up. There was insufficient information to know who was doing something wrong -- the teens or the man looking for a dog. Any number of scenarios like MAYBE THE MAN WANTED HIS DOG. Were the teens undersocialized and thus not aware that some people are allowed to actually have dogs and they can get loose and asking about your missing pet doesn't always mean they are after you? Caution didn't hurt the teens but false accusations might hurt the one looking for the dog. The teens are confused and need a lesson in understanding how to deal with older adults and people in general.
Teens, undersocialized, false accusations? Wow, you really need to get your facts straight before leaving a comment like this.

I think that this situation was a good wake up call. It is the start of summer and sometimes we busy parents forget to remind our children that they are NOT supposed to help strangers. Children are not personal "dog catchers" and should NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES be approached to be one. Kudos to those kids. They acted correctly.....if it had been a real case of enticement, we would be looking at it in a different light. It is unfortunate the we need to be careful in this world and always on the lookout for our neighborhood. But that is how it is. Better SAFE than SORRY.

these so called children or if you want to call them kids need to apologize to the man they accused of trying to abduct them. they should also apologize to the police in twinsburg and to all of their neighbors by making up these false accusations. i am a mother of a 12 year old girl and my daughter knows better than to make up a wild story as your children did. by the way, where were the parents of these children? do you always let your children run around by themselves without any adult supervision? did you even know where your children where when this man approached them? i would bet any amount that you did not have any clue where they were. you are actually lucky that a man who really did lose his dog was the one who asked your children for help. my child is always near me and i always keep an eye on her or i know where she is at all times. melissa c has a point when she says that your children are undersocialized. sadly, these kids do appear as if they do not get out much and that might be because their parents are sheltering them at home a great deal more than they realize.

Really? Being the mother of one of the children that was approached, I am **** off about this comment. Our children did great and we are more than proud of them. Anyone with common sense knows you do NOT approched children. If he truly did lose his dog then you ask an adult or even contact the local police and let them know what you are doing. This person has been seen in several neighborhoods, on the other side of the city, is he really looking for his dog?
I'll bet you feel like a real dumb a ss now.

So let me get this straight - you are condemning the children and the parents for the inappropriate behavior of a total stranger. Lady gets the facts straight. The man went to the police because he had to admit he was the man who did what the children said he did. Apologize to him? For what? He needs to apologies to the community of Twinsburg for his actions. A stranger should NEVER approach a child for help. Have you not taught your child what to do if a stranger approaches her? Of course NOT as she is never out of your sight so that would never happen to her.

When is the news conference going to be held so that society can see the faces of the parents and the children involved in this fiasco? It would be interesting to see what these misfits actually look like. Also, the fate of the United States is not good. These children who made up these false statements are the future of this country and that is why we as a nation are doomed since we will be led by these children someday who will likely be ignorant adults.

Not quite, you moron. It was you who lambasted another poster for suggesting the guy was probably looking for his lost dog.

It is so sad to see adults making comments without knowing the FACTS and these are the adults in charge of the country today. The parents and children went public about the incident to make sure other parents were aware of a STRANGER going around talking to children supposedly looking for a lost dog. These are the facts supported by the police advising the parents the man came to the Police station and admitted that the children were correct in that he called them to his car to look at pictures of his lost dog. So I am thankful to the children and the parents for doing the right thing in this instance. This man should be the one to give a news conference and apologize for his behavior. By the way the fate of the country will be in good shape with children like these who did a good deed by coming forward as they were taught to do when a stranger approached them.

Your just an ass... Any moron knows you DO NOT stop and ask kids to help find a missing dog but I'm guess that your just the type of stupid moron that would do just that. Get a life! The kids and parents did the RIGHT thing.

I have a question for people on this board and I hope that there are some people on here who can help me!! I noticed that this case involving the man and children occurred in an area of Twinsburg called "Lake Plata". I have heard of this area often. I am wondering if there really is a lake called "Lake Plata"? Also, is it possible to swim in this lake or is this lake only open to people who live in this development? I am looking for a place to swim and somebody told me that Lake Plata has a beach that is open to the public. I hope that there is somebody on this board who knows the answers to my questions. Your assistance will be highly appreciated. Thanks. BTW, the kids did a great job and it is hoped that they are alright after this ordeal.

How the heck were these kids supposed to know for sure if this guy lost his dog? This guy is an idiot of giant proportions, did he not stop and think for one second driving around random parts of town calling kids to his car for a lost dog would look just a *little* suspicious? If anyone owes an anybody an apology, it's the man for causing this. He could have put posters up, called the shelters, asked adults in the area, been a responsible owner...ya get the picture.

Shame on you for calling these kids names. I think it's refreshing to see that these kids were not only taught well by their parents in what to do in these cases, but also followed their parents guidance.

To hell with the naughty and publicity seeking kids in this story. The important part of this story is the DOG. What happened to the DOG and was the DOG found?

This board sure became real quiet in the last few weeks. Perhaps the parents of these children (I assume that these children were both girls) are teaching them how to make up some new stories to use in the future.
